Cooper tires to Michelin on 2021 GLE 450?

Okay, I've always had Michelin tires on my cars. On a couple, I have switched out with the dealer to Michelins as part of my deal. I sometimes wonder if this was a good move. I have no experience with these Cooper Tires. Some threads I have read people are saying they wear very quickly, others have said they have had a good experience with them. Are these Cooper tires any good? They don't seem to be a major player in the tire business but Mercedes have picked them because of price over Michelins? Some of the ratings are better than Michelin but the treadwear surveys don't seem to be as good. Or, should I just run them to whatever milage and then switch them out.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

I posted this last month: For our GLE350 with 275/50 R20 tires, we just got rid of the OEM Cooper tires with only 10K miles of use. We installed Michelin Primacy Tour A/S at Discount Tire, $1264 out the door. The ride and road noise are markedly improved. We just feel more confident driving in our very hot summertime weather with Michelin tires which in the past have given us excellent service.

Just switched out of the Coopers on our 2020 GLE 450 with about 12,000 miles on them. Had some tread life left, but I found them to be provide a harsher ride and a lot of road to tire noise even with acoustic package. Also switched to Michilin Primacy A/S. VERY noticiable difference in ride and sound. So far very happy with the Michilins. Cooper is to be aquired by GoodYear so MB can't stick us with them again I guess. Love the car, dissapointed they chose Cooper....

I've always considered Cooper tires to be a B Grade product. My 350 came with Bridgestone extended mobility tires. The road noise is decent and handling is good, but the ride is harsh because of the run flat technology. I can't wait for them to wear out and will either go with Michilins or Perelli

Guess I’ll keep them on for now. If after 6 months I’ll check the treadwear before I go on a long road trip. The Cooper Tire is suppose to be 10.5/32 which is good depth when new. The Michelin Primacy I read was only 8.5/32 when new.
WelI, I guess we’ll see. Probably not a good decision to throw money at already new tires but will see how they wear.

So there is nothing wrong with the tires, right? Nothing you can point to other than they are Coopers, not Michelin. So why wouldn't you want run them and see how the wear? They may be the best tire you've ever had...or the worst. Only one way to find out.

FYI, I put Michelin Premier LTX on my QX60 (P235/55R20), and I'm barely going to get 45K on them...I typically get closer to 60k on tires. I've rotated them every 5K miles, had 4 wheel alignments every 20K, and don't drive aggressively. Nonetheless, they're practically bald on the outside tread. They are still quiet, but not happy with the wear...so you never know.

Every manufacturer has A, B, and maybe C grade tires, to sell across a wider range of buyers.
This is Cooper's A grade, labeled M-O.
I didn't have ours long enough to judge wear, but the performance was excellent. I'd rate them ahead of OE Pirelli and Continental's in the performance department. Never had a Michelin as OE on Mercedes.
I had more confidence on twisty roads with the Coopers than other OE tires. Really good in the wet and pretty good on light snow.
FWIW I now prefer Nokians over Michelins.
Also FWIW I haven't seen much over 30,000 miles on anything on two previous ML's, (190,000 miles total) and I have ignored the high-mileage-guaranteed tires because they have limited grip.
New tech and compounds may find those goals compatible in the future, though.

Mickapen, you bring up some good and valued points. From this thread, I think I will stick for now with the Coopers when I take possession of the car and put money into the masking of the hood and front fenders. If tires don’t last, I’ll look for something else. Sizes are limited I’ve noticed.
