Activate Distronic Plus

Sorry if this has been covered before - had a quick look and couldn’t see anything.

I came across a company/someone who does coding and they say they are able to “activate” the Distronic Plus feature on the V167, and others, as the hardware is already installed it just needs coding.

Apparently the only thing that needs to be changed are the buttons on the steering wheel.

Has anyone ever done this or has any information?

When I go into the assistance menu it does show the distance from the car in front so I am assuming that the hardware is already installed for the pre-safe system.

TIA!

Mmmm. I would not trust them based on those comments.
Vehicles with DP have additional cameras on the windshield for lane-keeping assist, and the big giant sensor on the MB Star on the grille for the ACC.

Cheers,

Cheers,
Thanks for your input!

I do have the additional camera as I have Lane-keeping assist.

I also know there is a sensor behind the MB star that is used for the emergency braking system.

A few years ago I had a W205 C Class with the driving assistance plus package (ACC) and that had a big shiny star which had the sensor behind it.

I then switched to a GLC which did not have ACC and that just had a normal star.

I believe all V167 have the shiny star and have been told that they all have the same radar sensor regardless of whether they have ACC or not.

For the C class and GLC, I believe this is not the case.

While I can’t comment on getting DP activated (my car already has all of that), I can say that I had RJ Automotive code some things on my GLE about a month ago and their remote process to make the changes worked well. I would recommend them.

Hope that clears things up
Ahh ok that makes sense - thanks for explaining and providing the video above!

Same. I'm in Raleigh and would love to be able to code the intelligent light system but know anyone. I may try to go talk to a few mechanics to see if this is even going to be something people will be doing in NC. Unsure as of now.

Please let me know if you find someone there. I'm allegedly moving to Apex before the year is out if they ever finish my house. I am not that comfortable doing it remotely as some suggest.

Just had the coding done remotely to activate Distronic Pro by RJ Automotive.

Whole process was seamless and only took about half an hour.

Anyone looking to have this done, or any other coding such as the ILS activation for those of you in the states, I can’t recommend them enough!

Also had an offer on with 5 other free codings

Opted for:

- Ambient lighting change when changing driving modes
- Enabling of speed limit pilot
- 360 camera deactivation speed increase
- Vehicle horn alarm activated, so horn and siren sound when alarm goes off
- Enable Sport+ and Snow mode

Can’t find any info about Snow mode on the V167 so not sure what it actually changes. Hopefully will get some snow this winter so I can try it against the off road setting.

So distronic adaptive cruise control activation worked ok for you? It functions correctly right down to 0mph so it brings you to a stop?

how do you find speed limit pilot?

Yep, works just fine down to 0mph - if traffic starts to move again within about 3 seconds it sets off again, otherwise you just have to click resume or press the gas pedal.

I tried speed limit pilot but turned it off - I found that it slows down a bit too quickly when the speed limit drops, especially on the motorway. Also, I’ve had it where the camera reads a sign incorrectly and started to slow down.

did you have to purchase new buttons for the steering wheel? part number? (silver AMG trim)

If I have access to Xentry, how can I add this option code?

I did have to change the steering wheel buttons.

Don’t know the part number unfortunately, they were sent out to me as part of the coding package I bought.

You would have to ask RJAutomotive.
