Intersection video

First time MB owner and loving the learning.

Have a 2021 GLE 580 in Southern CA.

When I stop at an intersection or red light for more than a couple seconds, my dash cam kicks on and plays the video from what in front of the vehicle on the right 12.3” screen.

Is there a way to turn off the video feature and see the infotainment screen instead?

thanks in advance for the suggestions.

There is a setting to off. This is a good time to browse the menu to see what other settings are available.

It only happens at traffic lights when there is no car in front of you.

I believe that it is part of the augmented reality features and to access this feature you need to go into the settings menu under the navigation.

You have 3 options: disable always, suggest to show only, always show (like you have now).

Yes, that is a feature that works great if you are stopped at a red light in the morning/evening, and the sun is directly behind the light. You can view the light change on the monitor, and not be blinded. As mentioned, you can turn it off in on the augmented reality menu screen.

There’s a couple traffic lights on my way to work that are closer to the stopped cars than normal. With that feature turned on I don’t have to try and lean down to see the light. I can see when it turns green on my screen instead. Other than that I haven’t found it very useful, but under certain circumstances it’s nice to have.

You can hit the back arrow on the right side of the steering wheel to make it go away if you’re at a light and you don’t need it.

I’ve had 4 or 5 cars in front of me before and even a box truck once. I don’t think the number of cars in front matters.

This is correct. It will come one any time it detects a stop light.

I guess the difference is in the MBUX software, my car was built around Nov 2019.

What is yours?

I love the feature. North Jersey/NYC drivers love to challenge yellow lights, impatiently turn behind turning vehicles, and joggers with their airpods dart out from all directions. Not to mention the deer. So absollutely love the feature.

You're right. Mine is a tad newer:
