How Many Owners Use The Start/Stop Feature?

Just wondering how many owners decide to press the default button for the start/stop feature?
Who prefers the engine to continue to idle at a red light?

I put the car in Eco mode instead so the transmission starts in second gear from a stop. That makes the start stop feature much less abrupt when starting from A dead stop.

I shut it off also when the car starts. The thought car won’t start on green light scares the heck out of me especially with the 48 volt fiasco going on.

No reason not to with the 450, IMO. Wasting fuel for no gain doesn't feel right.

I leave it on - but it is rough and abrupt, especially when stopped and it restarts before a light changes. Feels like someone hit the back of the car.

I have a 450 and I leave it on when driving, wife turns it off every time.
For me personally think it’s very smooth and sometime I can hardly tell the engine off and back on during a stop at a light.

I will say I’ve driven a 350 And it’s like everyone says, horrible jerky. It’s nothing like the straight six 48 volt setup.

Two completely different experiences.

2021 GLE 350 - I turn it off and run in ECO. I have always wondered if start/stop is hard on the engine. I have always heard that when an engine is running and properly lubricated, that is the easiest on the engine.

In Florida it does not make sense because the inside of the car gets hot too quickly when the start/stop is on. I always turn it off unless I am in a bank drive through, then I turn it on and when I leave it goes right back off.

I also use Eco mode often because it seems to shift smoother.

+1 No reason to turn off in 450 as it is seemless when starting.

I agree also. When I had the 2020 GLE 350 I always turned it off but in my 2021 GLE 53 it doesn’t matter now because there’s virtually no stutter or jolt and the AC stays on. However, I did get it programmed to remember it’s last status so if I restart and had it off prior it stays off.

I leave it on on both my CLS and the wife's GLE. Start stop is seamless with the Inline-6 + 48 Volt system.

I leave it on when I am driving within about 2.5 miles from home. I turn it off if further from home because of the 48V issue. Most of the time I can't tell when it starts/stops though.

I leave it on. It's virtually unnoticeable on the 450.

Not only do I leave it on, I usually change to economy mode just to get a smoother ride. The 48 volt drives a lot more than just the auto start/stop.

We have a lovely DIY programming solution available for you all. Programs the vehicle to remember the last Eco setting it was in before shutting the car off. This way you can enable it again when you want it, and disable it again when you don't, but otherwise, you can forget about it and just go about your business.

I had a GLE43 Coupe and GLE350 and always turned it off.

I now have a GLE450 with the 48v system and I never turn it off. I never notice the restart at all and as far as I can tell the engine never seems to turn off (although it does). Brilliant system and so much better than the old system which I thought was unsafe due to the time to restart.

My old GLE350 - Not seamless at all. Slight lag before the engine re-starts which can cause issues at junctions etc.

My New GLE450 - Yes, seamless hardly know it restarts at all and I leave it on.

2020 580 which has the biturbo 4.0 with EQ Boost. I leave it on and like it. It is very seemless and the AC keeps everything cool even during long lights, etc.
