Winter tire and rim advice.
Is it a non issue ? Am I being too neurotic about this? I know removing tires and putting them back on is stressful on the sidewall especially on run flats but I think these coopers that come OEM on the GLE are non run flats. Looking for opinions and what you folks are doing in the northern climates.
I also have the rim and tire protection package and Mercedes told me they would cover the tires even if they are not OEM .. which makes no sense to me.
In my case, I have the 21" wheels that came with the Pirelli All Season tires. I bought a set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 SUV and have the dealer swap them (mount + balance) for winter, since I spend most of my time in the North East (Boston and Montreal). Other people opted for a separate set of dedicated wheels+winter tires.

We have Nokian GRW3 on the GLC, and I like the "All Weather" capabilities - run them year-round. But there aren't any "All Weather" tires in the 21" staggered size right now. That funny looking Michelin might work if they build it in our size.
I'm watching and waiting for this winter's tire introductions to see what is made available for that size, but it's an odd combo so I don't have a lot of hope.
The Winter Scorpions would fit, and I suppose they'd be OK, and that's a backup plan. Just the tires, probably, unless some used 20" wheels show up on eBay or somewhere. Or 21s.
Whatever shows, be ready to snap them up, since supply will probably dry up quickly, like last year.

The Winter thread covers all of the issues. I’m on vacation at Tahoe so don’t have time to research. Tire Rack has the 15mm conical bolts with the wheels when you buy there. These will work on the AMG 53/63 with larger calipers & 21/22” wheels. Also work on GLE 350; 450;580. They are 20’s, et45, and I bought black bolts from another source. MSW type 30 wheel; black; machined face.
