Yes - 2020 GLE350 , before I dive under the car to see if it is plastic or an actual drain pan and dig in the manuals , was looking to see a DIY , surprised to find none.
None on Google as well.
I actually started the thread aforementioned....the attachments that members provided will provide you everything you need. It's a fairly easy job and you'll have the satisfaction of knowing it's done right and for less that $1879

Ha, I've seen some on this forum near $500....if you have some oil changes on other rather newer cars you can handle doing the Merc...it's a bit unconventional than japanese, American or other makes but it's an easy do
Thanks team . I think I hit jackpot when I discovered the engine type is the M264 ...this was the missing part of the puzzle..atleast for me , found a guy did DIY on this 2020 GLC300 with M264 :
The second option for me is to order the mobile 1 esp 0w-30 229.51,229.52 from Amazon and run by the dealer to buy the oil filter kit
Cheapest route would be to buy Mobil, Castrol & Pennzoil oil from Walmart and capitalize on the rebates offered. All three of the manufactures I've mentioned are currently offering $10 rebates when you purchase a 5 qt. jug (max. 2 rebates per household). You can find OEM oil filters and drain plugs/gaskets on Amazon, RockAuto or FCP Euro.
Alternatively, you could buy an oil change kit from FCP Euro. They are popular due to the lifetime warranty offered for all the products they sell.
Has anyone thought about the complications of the warranty if one messes up? When talking about o rings, gaskets, drain plugs etc etc and something goes wrong, are you covered by warranty for your problem? I bet you are not. I don’t think the dealer is going to pay for the fix since you did it.
It’s just my opinion but if one can afford to buy one of these cars then isn’t it best to let the dealer do the work so there can be no warranty refusal because it was done by yourself?
Once the warranty is finished you can do whatever you want.

If you don't feel comfortable with changing a filter and tightening an oil plug stay away from it. If there are no leaks nothing went wrong. I would gladly pay the dealer a reasonable amount for them to do it so I would not have to mess with it. A lady in Miami was charged $1700 last month for level 1 service with amounts to an oil change and that is just one that bothered to post it in one of the forums. My dealer at purchase time wanted to sell me a maintenance package that averaged $926 per service. That is not reasonable. Changing oil among mechanics is deemed as being the bottom of the totem pole. No certified mechanic wants to do it. The job is delegated to newer employees which may not have that much dedication and many times could care less if the job is done right. I know of one case they put three holes in the driver's seat with some tool the guy had in his back pocket and the dealer denied it.
Folks I want to clarify on the oil type ,also update on the oil change - my horror wtf moment.
From what I have been reading and seeing in the manual , the oil grade is not 229.5 . It is 229.51 or 229.52 with lower SPAsh / low count of particles that mess with the Emission systems. So if you used 229.5 in your 2020 GLE or higher , that could damage your emissions systems.
You cant yet buy the 229.51 /52 from Advance /Autoz or Orielly or Costco.
Long story short , my SO lost her patience and ended booking an appointment with local MB dealer. Part of it is my mistake , since I had hinted that oil need to be replaced at 5K on the new car and it was almost 8K. So I let her keep the appointment and do the FLEX A service.
It was $285.00 out of the door. This is where "my" horror story starts on seeing the invoice now (attached) : To my ultimate shock I see the work order specify 229.5 5W-40 , the same type Costco Mobil-1 at least 2 cases left in my garage.
I am like WTF ...does anyone else have any similar experience ? Any advises ? I am sincerely hoping it is typo.

I personally only send my vehicle to the stealer for warranty work. I feel comfortable enough with my skills to tackle routine maintenance issues like oil changes, brake pad and rotor replacement and brake fluid flushes. Tbh, I typically trust my skills to perform these routine maintenance items over the techs at the stealer. I've never had issues with a denied warranty claim due to any work I did myself.
I've heard and experienced of too many horror stories of shoddy workmanship and abuse of customer vehicles while at the stealer. I also am tired of the constant upsell of services anytime you take your car in. Remember that the gold mine for a stealership is parts and service and the techs are typically paid by the job. As a result, they are incentivized to perform jobs as quickly as possible.

Looks like the stealer used the wrong oil in you car. If you go to the BeVo site, the only MB branded oil approved for you car is 5W-30 or 0W-20. Probably worth reaching out and seeing what they say.
5W-40 & 0W-40 Castrol Edge is approved for use in your vehicle and its readily available in the US.

That is why you see so many people saying they do it themselves because they want it done right. The dealer will probably tell you they used 229.51 but their computer system has it as 229.5 because it hasn't been updated which we know is BS.

I had something similar happen with our Audi but the SA pulled the internal documentation to show that they used the correct oil...they weren’t using bulk oil at the time. If they have two 55 gallon drums side by side then there may be no way to know for certain.

I called my dealer and talked to the service writer and the lead mechanic and they both said they're using 229.5 on oil changes for 2020+ GLE 350 and 450.
If you're going to do it yourself, FCP has Luqui Moly 5w-40 that satisfies both 229.51 and 229.52 Mercedes requirements, ships for free and has a "lifetime warranty" on oil ! Unbeatable ! https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/5w4...qui-moly-22122

Now I’m confused…if Mercedes requires a higher quality oil what’s the Dealers logic for using the wrong oil? Seems like the Dealer could be open to future liablility.
The service invoice above only lists a seal as being replaced for the drain screw.
The "V167 M256 oil change.pdf" says the entire drain screw, part number BA01.45-P-1005-01MRT, needs to be replaced. I cannot find a source for this. Where are y'all sourcing parts other than the dealer?

The drain screw/plug is a dealer item. For these types of items I order from mbparts.mbusa.com or call around local dealers.
