I just got an update from my dealer that my car was built 2 days ago and awaiting transport / shipping.

D6J : Standard wireless Charging was removed from the build and got credited for $200.

Disappointing that i waited for 4 months and a basic feature available in Corolla and Civic is missing in MB GLE. Can we add any after market chargers? Please advise.

 

I have looked at close to a dozen 2022 350s that are coming into various dealers and most are showing D6J Wireless Charging delete with a $200 credit.

 

In the beginning of September, we ordered a GLE Coupe to be built for my wife. The car is scheduled to be built in the first 10 days of January 2022 and the wireless charging delete was on the build sheet we accepted. We were told that it relates to the ongoing chip shortage. Seems kind of crazy that they know they still won't have chips 4 months from now.

It could be worse - one of my co-workers took delivery of a new Porsche Cayenne that was delivered without the chip that raises and lowers the steering wheel. Until the chips become available, he has to take the car into the dealership if he wants to move the steering wheel!

 

Hmm... We build a 2022 GLE350 in early October and were told wireless charging wasn't removed from the build sheet. Sounds like they still could remove it later. AR was also removed. We were told MB removed AR for all builds in 2022.

Also, regarding the chip shortage...a lot of articles I've read said this might be an issue throughout 2022 and into 2023.

 

My 450 was built on 10/5 and its slated to be delivered to the dealership on Monday. It took 3 weeks to get to the California dealership. I finalized the paperwork yesterday and saw I too got a $200 credit for wireless charging. (D6J: Credit for missing standard 897). I also was hoping it could be added later by the service department or as an after market solution.

 

I don't know if this is accurate, but my SA told me that it can't be added later.

 

I placed my order for a 2022 350 GLE AWD the second or third day ordering opened up in the dealer's computer system. (I was alerted to that by a posting I saw here at the forum--so a big thank-you to the person who first posted when 2022s could be ordered.) I ordered June 18th, then made one minor change to the order on June 23rd--not sure if making that change reset my order date or not.
My SUV arrived at the dealer on September 28th and it does have a working charging pad. No AR, though. My sales consultant was surprised because another GLE 350 that came in that same week, did not have it. I must have gotten one of the last builds with a working charging pad. I had almost made the decision that I was not going to accept the vehicle if it arrived without it because I thought it would really bother me driving around for years (I normally keep my cars a while) looking down at a non-functioning charging pad. In fact, I posted here a while back that would be a deal-breaker for me. Then I learned that this chip issue could extend into 2023, so was really dreading having to make the decision to take it or not. Not sure if this helps--knowing the date I ordered, but thought I'd share it in case it gives some perspective on when the shortage started affecting the 2022 builds.

what is the expected build date for you? Wondering if i should decline my current build and wait.

 

Build is end of December with a delivery date Middle to End of January.

 

Wireless charging in X5 hasn't been available for months.

 

Wireless charging is overrated in cars anyway. It's generally only good enough to keep the phone charged, if you want to charge it properly you're much better to plug it in.

I would go so far as to say it’s almost worthless. If wireless AA/CarPlay become abailable it might not keep the phone from a slow discharge. Maybe it’s worse because of the rubber pad and a phone cover keeping the phone farther away from the charging plate. My wife put her phone (12% charge) on ours for about 30 minutes and found only a very slight improvement so she plugged in USB and it was 60+ in a short time.

 

I have it on my 450 and used it like once to check it out. My phone isn't easy to get in so I won't be using it as a charger that often.

 

I have it in my 2020 GLE450 and it's absolutely useless. I have been searching for a way to turn it off! I like putting my phone in that spot but as others have mentioned, the charging is painfully slow so I plug in a fast charger in the cigarette lighter socket and charge using that. I wouldn't care one bit if my next car had it unless they improve the current setup and introduce a fast charging version.

 

Sounds about right. I have wireless CarPlay in my other car, battery life on the phone isn’t an issue unless on a long trip.

 

I agree and useless if you have an iPhone 12+ pro max (it just doesnt work), I just plug mine in now

 

kinda the same position , found dealer that had a car with the correct spec on order in June, anticipating maybe this month Oct, so update just been told car in

anyone driving the gle 350de prem plus, ,

we have the charging mat, ,

No augmented reality, so no dash camera

ordered with the tow package,

now seem to find no Active Parking Assist (parktronic)

rear reversing, parallel parking now not an option,

told Due to EU regs, NOT CHIPs, this has been disabled in the uk

anyone else been told the same ??

 

Sounds like absolute nonsense, EU regs do not now apply in the UK, we are now allowed to have bent bananas.

I use this one my other car, not sure if it's the latest model from these people but it works 'OK'. Not fast charge by any stretch of the imagination:

 

I went to local dealership in Dallas, Tx and salesman said that wireless charging is temporarily not available but will be back soon (may be after 6 months per his estimate). Very sad to hear this but I am planning this vehicle for summer 2022. So I decided to wait for another 3 months and place the order sometime in Jan 2022. Hopefully I will get wireless charging when it gets delivered sometime in June 2022.

 

The EXACT same thing happened to me about 30 seconds ago...My dealer just called me to say that my GLE 350 will be ready for pickup Wednesday without wireless charging.
