Oil Level gauge on 2021 GLE 450

Have been driving my car for a few months now and the oil gauge always was showing "MAX" up to a few days ago. Just recently drove 2100 miles and have approx 4500 miles on the car.

The other day I started it up, went out on the freeway for a awhile, checked the oil level as I was driving and the line was parked exactly at 1/2 level between Max and Low on the gauge.

The gauge said "OIL OK". I was wondering if the sensor was acting up? I called the dealer and he said the engine will use a little oil over time and the gauge measuring acts in blocks not like an analogue gauge in graduations. He said it will probably stay there now and this is normal.

What has anyone else experienced with this situation?

On my 350 with 7K miles it shows the oil level at MAX and has been there since I got it back in February. If it all of a suddenly went from MAX to about half, it might be worth scheduling a trip to the service depot just to make sure there isn't a leak or anything loose. It seems weird how a digital read would only go from MAX, to half, and then to LOW instead of going in at least 1/4 block increments.

In the manual it says if the guage sits between Max and Min, the guage show say OK then, this is normal. It says if it goes below Min, the guage will tell you you are down a quart.
The car sat for 2 days with no signs of leaks. I really don’t want to do the dealer thing unless I absolutely have to.
Called my dealer in Canada and they also told me this is normal if the guage sits between Min and Max and it says OK.

Mine was at MAX since purchase up until Service A, even the morning of. Then it goes right smack in the middle after having Service A done at 10k miles.

Sounds like they skimped out on 1/2 quart.

I don’t think so because the guage was at full for 2100 miles, then one morning drove the car awhile and it was at 1/2, right in the midpoint.
Guage had been at full mark since last spring. Checked for leaks and nothing on the ground. Manual refers to guage reading 1/2 and says this is a normal reading.

Go figure on this one.

Stated the car this morning and was driving down the freeway for a bit. Checked the oil level and it was back at FULL level.

Maybe the sensor is acting up? Anyway, a few days of 1/2 oil level and this morning back to full level.

We'll see tomorrow what will happen.

Back to 1/2 oil level on gauge today! Says "OIL OK".

Weird!
