Very happy with the 450; there are some quirks and also MB's CS is aggravatingly inept but other than that no issues and would totally buy again.

I own two 167s (one-sixty-lemons according to one spammer).
2020 GLE350
2021 GLS450

I love them both. The GLE spent some time in the shop because of a noise from the front HVAC. If I hadn't been so early in the lease, I would have just let it go. Otherwise, I am very pleased with both cars, nearly 30,000 miles later.

What kind of noise did you have? I've recently started hearing clicking sounds that usually go away shortly after starting a cold vehicle.

I changed my 450 for a BMW 40i 3 weeks ago, for NO other reason than I wanted a change. I had the car for 29 months and had no issues except for easy entry/exit not working correctly which was quickly sorted. The GLE is a great car and all cars will have issues but nobody posts on forums about not having issues.

It was in the HVAC fan. If I had the radio on, it was almost imperceptible. With the radio off, it was a whirring sort of sound that increased with fan speed. Unfortunately, the fix involved removal of the entire dash. It was an ugly sight while being worked on!

It is definitely not Alex LSC. I watch all his videos and that has never been the theme of the channel. He was a Mercedes master tech at one point.

Yup I thought so (although I might had missed a video or two), from what I watched so far he is dedicated too, he rebuilt his V12 and just recently figured out and fixed the issue of the ABC on his CL 65.

I've owned a few very good new MBs over the years along with very good BMWs.

I've test driven a new 2022 BMW 45e PHEV.........a very nice vehicle with a $7500 federal tax (at this time) credit to boot.

I have a 2018 X3M40i as a 2nd car. 64,000 flawless miles.

The X5 45e is a spectacular vehicle all around and airmatic suspension is standard.

In recent years, I've always owned a MB and a BMW for something ":different" to drive.

I'll arange for a test drive of the GLE 450.

Whether or not I can order get a "factory trailer hitch" in either the MB or BMW along with a couple of other options will be a question.

Thanks, Bill
The BMW X5 (other than the M models) is unavailable in the US with the Harmon Kardon sound system. All that is available is the basic sound system.

this is why I posted the original question?
we never hear much "good stuff" about cars purchased.
Thanks

I love my GLE450. I've had ML's / GLE for 15+ years and this is by far the best I've ever had by a mile. It has 7 seats which fold with a button push and I love the Head up Display. The AR Nav is good but if I didn't have it I wouldn't worry. I couldn't live without the HUD though. The ability to control speed to the vehicle in front and with the car reading the traffic speed signs is great. Also like lane assist and blind spot warning in the mirrors. The MBUX is awesome although the NAV sometimes will find a destination in another country before it finds one down the road if I use my voice. I do find the sat nav often wants to take me an unusual route which I don't think my 2017 GLE30 would have done. I activated the dashcam which is good but you have to turn it on each time and depending how much is on the USB stick can take 60 seconds to allow it's use which is painful. Would be good if it had a proper spare wheel but I bought a second hand one and second hand tyre for trips where finding spare tyres would be problematic. Airmatic ride is great and I wish it remembered the driving mode as I always use (E) Economy mode. Stop/Start is faultless and you wouldn't notice it. It makes a big difference to MPG as well. 360 camera is superb as well. It still makes me smile every time I get in it. Superb Car and would buy again next time without question although I suspect I will keep this for many years. Would have loved a proper tow bar but the car is fully loaded apart from that (and under body protection). Performance is not that different from the GLE43 Coupe I had before but it has the benefit of being able to fit loads in the back. Only issue I had was a squeaking noise around the doors where they met the body which the dealer couldn't fix. I used some german sounding wax stuff which fixed the problem in an instant and it's still quiet months later. I just love it !

I have a 2020 GLE450 with 37,000 miles (9/19 delivery date). Very happy, no issues worth mentioning. I love the magma Nappa leather interior. Acceleration is excellent considering vehicle size, and the airmatic suspension is pretty good, although I can feel some sway particularly in hard left turns (not really a surprise for such a heavy vehicle with a high ride height).

I switched vehicles after a series of 5 S-classes. It was a great change. Given the current ordering delays, I'm likely to buy my 450 at lease end; I'll probably get the extended warranty as downside protection, in case it doesn't age gracefully.

Most loved features: Distronic Plus and Heads Up Display.
Most disappointing upgrade: Leather steering wheel. Only handholds are leather, rest is plastic (not like ML which was full leather)
Most unnecessary feature: Automatic parking

If you loved your 350 you should love the 450 even more.

love my 450 coming from a 350. It’s a great car. No faults with it and it drives like a dream and goes like a rocket if you need it.

Hey Bill - I just ordered a 2022 450 for late Mar/early Apr delivery. Spec'ed it out but did not get the Driver Assistance Package PLUS. Did you get that? It just seemed like it took a lot of the solid standard safety features and made them annoying to the point where I would be looking to disable them. Of course, there are one or two which would be nice to have, but hard to say it's worth $1,950. When I read the forum on this upgrade specifically, it was pretty split with people saying they found much of it annoying (and explained why it was annoying) and people who LOVED it and couldn't understand why someone wouldn't pay $2k to make the car safer (but never specifically said what they loved about it). Any thoughts?

I wouldn't buy a car without it, and I think a discerning buyer would be in agreement.
It might hurt your resale value if you don't have what's considered an important package to most luxury car buyers.

Consumer Reports about reliability of the GLE's in general ?

I'm in the market to replace my almost worn out 2015 ML 350 with 126,000 flawless miles and am considering the 450 for a replacement.

I'd like to hear from some GLE 450 owners who are happy with their cars.

Thank you,

While I am satisfied with my purchase, content customers rarely post on forums like this, as they have no issues to report or questions to ask. Decades ago I used to run a very popular Volvo website (not the Brickboard) and it was also the same.
