Still happy at 39k... only problem has been AC funk that I also had in my Raptor. Never had in any other vehicles in almost 40 years living in Central and South Texas.

My two Ex's were a 2006 C230, and "07" E350 (miss her great milage)my current one is a "09" C63 AMG
Not happy! less than 300 miles on a brand new custom order 2024 GLE450 already in for service TWICE for check engine light and cooling system malfunction.

Have you had issues with other cars? Sucks you have to visit service so soon. Hopefully all will be worked out. Good luck.

Thanks, I hope it works out too, and that it is just new vehicle glitches. I have owned 50+cars in my life time, this is a first for me. Many of my vehicles have been ordered and built to my liking, the last one being a “22” X3M Comp, and I regret getting rid of it now.

I love mine. It's one year old now and it's a pleasure every time.

Be careful because after buying one it makes all other makes seem inferior in terms of quality, comfort, craftsmanship, etc.

2022 GLE450
Sorry for the long post, but hopefully it helps you with your decision.

I absolutely love our 2022 GLE450! Super quiet, power is more than adequate, tons of great features that feel very intuitive, great looks, solid handling for an SUV of this size and weight, and the perfect amount of space (for us). It's easily the nicest and best SUV we've ever owned.

Basically looks exactly like the one posted by PLINYELDER minus the side steps:

That said.....

In 15 months of ownership, it's been in the shop four times, and only one of those times was for routine service. Literally on the second day of ownership, we walked out to the car after church, took in that wonderful new car smell, smiled, and hit the start button, only to see a Christmas tree light up on the dash and a message saying to depress the brake to start. Flatbed was on the way when my daughter jumped in and tried to start it again just because, and it fired up. Canceled the flatbed and scheduled a visit with the service dept. They couldn't find anything after trying for a week, then the tech thought of something (no idea what it was) that he could replace to hopefully fix the issue. It did, right until we took a trip to visit our Army daughter in KS. Then it happened again randomly. By now, we knew what to do; walk away and come back in five minutes. Started up fine, but we called and made another appointment with the service dept. This time, MB corporate decided to replace the entire 48V battery system. Problem fixed(?).

Then last week, I was at a light stopped (engine auto-off). Light turned green and I went to move forward and bam, Christmas Tree dash again! Just dead in the water. Just glad no one was behind me at the time. I turned it off, then back on, and it fired up with a yellow CEL. The CEL disappeared after two days all on it's own, but we have yet another appointment with our good friends at the service dept. a week from now. Car seems to be running just fine, but that's a potentially disastrous and highly unsafe scenario (trying to merge, getting out of the way of XYZ, etc.), not to mention the absurdity of a 15 month old Mercedes breaking down during what has been a very simple and basic automotive action for what, the last century or more?!?

So last weekend, we decided to go buy a second car, which we avoided for two years because we both work from home. But this GLE is just too sketchy to rely on. Perhaps we got a lemon?? Whatever the case, we headed straight to used Lexus. At 8 years old, the Lexus feels great and the CarFax/dealer record showed not one single repair or failure of anything on the car. We'll still drive the GLE of course, but since it averages a repair visit about once every five months, this way we don't have to rely on getting a loaner.

Again, not a hater. MB has made the near perfect SUV IMO. It's just not reliable; at least, not in our experience. Gonna give it another year or two, but if these headaches don't stop, we're probably just switching to a new GX or something. I don't want to do that because the GLE is honestly way nicer overall. But I'm not sure how much more we can take. The service dept. guys are great and all, but I've seen them way way too often in the last 15 months. And BTW, they gave us a lifetime powertrain warranty on that used Lexus. That's pretty hard to beat.

Now over 40k on 2022 GLE 450. ZERO issues barring AC smell, couple of recalls taken care of at service intervals. Scheduled for fuel pump recall next month (due to waiting on loaner).

Love my 2021 GLE 450

I just passed 3 years ownership of my 2021 GLE 450 with 34,000 miles. It’s been a great ride! I have been looking for a replacement before my 4-year warranty expires next year, but frankly, I can’t find a vehicle that matches my GLE in reliability, safety, comfort, ease of driving, quality materials, etc., so I am considering purchasing the extended warranty and keeping it a few more years. I’ve had only two issues: a rattle in the sunshade while driving over bumps at low speed (MB solved with some strategically placed foam) and another rattle at low speeds (MB replaced the rear shocks). Other than an occasional (4 times in 3 years) sensor warning that cleared by themselves, this vehicle has been an extraordinarily reliable ride. I will likely replace it with a new GLE 450 in the future.

Do you have AIRMATIC or standard steel springs? THX!

Standard Springs. I’m not sure I would experience the advantage of the AIRMATIC suspension living here in flat Florida. The only curves you get to enjoy are on-ramps and off-ramps. I miss Colorado....except for the weather.

Driving a car you don’t trust is stressful. I hope MB finds the fix so you can put that behind you.

I bought a new X5 that broke down (failed injector) the first day I owned it. The dealership didn’t have a spare injector in stock so they “cannibilized” an injector off a new X5 on the lot. You don’t see that every day.

We bought a 2023 GLE 450. Ordered airmatic and a lot of other options. Took 6 months, car came in less the airmatic suspension. We ended up with 2 years free service. plus a host of discounts
So far after 11 months, car is great. A former student got me the rear spoiler. A local body shop painted and installed it. Love the look. My wife drives it around town and we take it on trips. I have a Megacab Diesel, not really good for her back with all the bad disks she has. So far all good. Service has been great at Southampton Mercedes. A whopping 5000 miles on it. My only wish is to make it go a little faster.

Did you order with acoustic comfort pkg? If so (or if not), what are your thoughts on the quietness of the drive?

My 2021 GLE 450 did not come with the Acoustic Comfort Package; however, I can’t imagine it could be any quieter than it is now, so, I guess I don’t know what I'm missing. Options I would miss: Soft Close Doors. This is a box I probably would not have checked until I got the opportunity to enjoy this feature on my GLE. The only problem is keeping passengers from slamming the doors when all they have to do is effortlessly let the door loose and let it close itself.

We're happy with our 4 2/3 year old 2020 GLE 450 w/ E-ABC with 37k miles. Had a couple issues early on resolved with software updates. 12V battery replaced at warranty expiration. Other than that, it's been stellar. Reliable, quiet, fast, handles well and has good overall utility.

Edmonds, an actual car magazine, is quite happy with the 167.
They rated the best luxury SUV available today.

You can also see Edmonds ratings on other years, and link to the customer reviews they have received.

I see Edmunds does not recommend the Adaptive Air Suspension -- says it’s “too floaty.” Do you agree?

I do. It's why I bought a 53. It tightens the car up nicely.

So does the Sport setting in the 450 - almost.

Edit: I'd still get the air suspension on a 450, unless I planned to keep it over 90k miles. Then I'd budget for a full redo, or get a Breakdown Policy, or get the steel.

I don't find it floaty around town or on the highway. It does feel different than the normal steel suspension. Selecting the sport mode tightens it up noticeably and some might prefer it. Edmunds didn't actually test the AirMatic suspension. They are basing their opinion of the Airmatic on "GLE models in the past".

Yes I got the acoustic option. My wife loves this car. She had a E450 Cabro loaded, but never used the top. Time to go. Now we can put the two dogs in and go. Any idea how it is to have a 90lb wolf dog and a 130lb shepherd. They need room. So far all good.

Unfortunately I couldn’t get comfortable with the standard sport seats in both the 53 and 63, so I will probably buy another 450 or maybe a 580. I should test drive one with AIRMATIC to see how it performs compared to standard springs.

When we had two Irish Wolfhounds, 165 and 185 lbs, we had to take out the rear seat in our SUV to transport them both at the same time.

Few weeks after fuel pump recall, got a check engine light. Took it in, couple days later ready to go again with a new fuel monitor sensor. Can't help but think it had something to do with the recall work, but who knows. Wife's loving life again after our first "issue".

When they did my fuel delivery module recall, they also replaced the emissions evap Diagnostic Device (000-545-01-41-64) as it didn't pass testing and had popped a warning light. I'm not an expert but maybe it's related somehow. Is this what you had replaced too?
