Night package and locking lug nut

Got 450 with AMG and Nightline package on Oct 13. So far, I love the vehicle. One question so far. As I was washing the vehicle the other day, I noticed for the first time that for each wheel, I have one black locking lug nut and the rest are chrome. Same on all four wheels. It looks a bit bizarre in the whole scheme of things. I called the dealer and the parts dept said that was the way it was supposed to be. That doesn't make sense to me at all. He said he showed no lug nuts specific to my vehicle that could be ordered as black and that the front and rear lug nuts were diff sizes which i already knew. So....I'm calling BS....but am I wrong? I cannot find any data showing that there should be all black lugs to match the locking one. I know, first world problems, but it is what it is.

Edit...I decided to replace the single black locking lug with the silver. Looks better than all black after I saw others with that configuration.

They gave you the wrong locks…it’s a Dealer installed option. The black are for the Night Pkg with black wheels…silver for all others. Parts Dept either made a mistake or are trying to get rid of some black ones. See attached pic for the correct PN.

So shouldn’t I have all black which is what I want? I cannot find a part number that would give me all black. The pic you attached appears to be all chrome.

If you have the night package then the factory put the wrong lug bolts on and the locks are correct. Here is a pic of the ones that came on my vehicle. There was a PN posted by someone for the black lug bolts several months ago..it is a factory bolt but different head than the silver. If they run your Vin it should show the black bolt PN…that’s how one member painting his wheels found bolts. Check member Chris

Thanks, Ron. The parts guy is full of crap. This is what it should have been. I’m trying to figure out where I can get the actual part numbers as he says there isn’t one. I might call MB tmrw.

Do you have the night pkg? The pic is for silver wheel locks. If night pkg then your locks are correct.

I have the night package and I have one black locking lug on each wheel and rest are silver or chrome. I was under the impression that all lugs should be black. Sorry if I m confusing the issue.

PM member chrislk55…he bought the black lug bolts by using a VIN for a vehicle with the Night Pkg. Your parts guy is wrong.

On the assumption that the parts guy doesn’t know better…a big if…find a VIN from a dealers inventory of non night pkg.Monroney sticker…most post one when the car arrives with car pics. Take your VIN & that VIN to the parts guy to prove that there are two PN’s. Take my pic as backup. If he orders the bolts for your VIN they should come in black.

Same happened to me had to order new black locks. Looked hideous with one silver bolt on while rest were black. Sales man said that’s how Mercedes does it in Alabama. Sure😉they do.
part number you need to order is A0009909719 about 100 bucks but it’s worth it.
Order online/email or call your local MBZ parts department when you get them tell the S/A to install them takes 10 minutes any issues you can return them right there.

I have the night package and need all black. I have the locking lug in black. Want MB to replace the chrome with black. Cannot imagine how they thought this was ok.

Oh ok got you I read original post to fast. Damn I’d be frustrated too. Be kind of expensive and you shouldn’t have to pay out of pocket for16 black bolts.
Call corporate see if they can help in anyway. Maybe they can reach out to your dealer and figure something out.

I agree you got the wrong color and they should all match, but would just add that "Night package" doesn't necessarily mean you need the black ones. I have a GLE 450 with AMG Exterior + Night Package, and the 21" multi-spoke wheels with black accents, and for those you need the chrome. Or at the very least, they came with chrome lug nuts from the factory and the locking nuts I bought from the dealer were also chrome to match.

You make a good point. Dealer told me he would split the cost to change to all black. Said my cost would be $150. I think they should ll be the same color and either all chrome or all black. I’m going to rethink the color based on your comment. You may be right .

I changed my black locking lugs to silver and they look fine to me. They were $79 plus tax.

My 2020 GLS 450 with the 20-inch 8-spoke wheels came in with the black locking lug nuts while the others were chrome. My dealer apologetically switched them the next week. All lug nuts should match. Unless you ordered the wrong one, M-B or the dealer should make this right at no charge to you.

I got my GLE 350 2 weeks ago. All nuts are silver and the locking nuts I paid extra are in black. Dealer said that is what MB sent with the new car, they asked me to come back after 2 days to see if they can get silver locking nuts. Yet to get this swapped.

Why is MB giving silver nuts to night package and black nuts to regular wheels? I assume black and silver paints are still available in market! They can't blame this on covid chip shortage!

I have the night package too. And my locking lug nut and floral shaped lug nut are all silver.

I’ve got the night package and have all silver with one black on each tire. Although I think I remember clicking a box to add black locking nuts, and paying extra, since I figured they would match the black ones I assumed would come on it with a night package. I just figured I was the only weird person with one odd colored nut on each tire.

I have to agree with you. The dealer is going to replace the one black locking nut with a chrome locking nut. Even with the black rims, there is some silver and the chrome look fine.

Made and executive decision after getting Management's (aka wife) input. I have to agree with her and you. The chrome will look great with these wheels.

Apparently there is no rhyme or reason on the night package and locking lugs. Some are coming in like ours (one black lug), some are coming in all chrome and some with black lugs with locking chrome. I decided to go all chrome and the dealer will replace the black with chrome at no charge.

Did you go with all black or chrome? I changed my mind and the dealer will replace the black locking lug with chrome locking lug.

As far as I know, the only silver night package wheels in 20-21,22” are the 21’s for the 350/450. All others including the AMG 21’s come with black. I’m not sure about the non AMG body.
