GLE 350 de hybrid - Charging 7.2kw!!
It seems that the only way to reach 7.4kw is by completely rewiring your house electrics to phase 3 wiring which no house in the UK has.
Can anyone help with this? I don’t understand at all why it has to be phase 3, when my other electric car is fine on a single phase set up and gets 7.4kw no problem!!!
It’s not the cable just to rule that out.
So I guess it's been designed for "continental" Europe and 3-phase systems. The odd thing, from my perspective, is that it has a 2-phase charger and not 3-phase.
This issue has been known in France since 2020. Mercedes technical documentation is not precise. Customer service response : it works as designed !!
Result for me : a 64A single-phase Wallbox (1600€) which operate at 16 A (3,6KWH) with a yellow Menenkes Cable.

especially ones found at work places will share the supply if “the robot” (wall box) has two outlets. Hence only getting 3.4kw ish.
I resolved this issue by installing a new Type 2 Plug on the Wallbox Charger (at the car end) which I wired to supply the single phase to both L1 and L2 of the plug. The car (Mercedes GLE 350 DE (2021)) now charges at approx. 7 kW instead of 3.5 kW from my Wallbox Pulsar Plus (single phase 32A). Note that this fine works for this car, may not work for other models.

Quick question did you purchase a new plug if so where did you get it from ? you mention you chaged the car end
Thanks James.
I purchased a new plug (the one that you plug in the car) on Amazon which I wired as described.
See the attached picture for the type of plug (it is in Spanish but quite self explanatory I think).

-Dennis,
Initially I was shocked it wouldn’t charge at 7kw! Are you still successfully charging at 7kw!!! Any problems??
Just had ohme ev charger fitted on third I noticed mid way charging, it stops. I then have to disconnect via ohme app a few times before it resumes again. Is anyone having similar problems
