To be fair, this is a fairly recent development with BMW. I had 2018 X5 and remote start wasn't available because it was "illegal" in germany, according to salesman. In any event. what BMW does is irrelavant to what MB does; unless, you are doing a side-by-side comaprrison. Complaining about a car that you have already purchased and comparing it to another brand, just means you didn't do your homework based on your preferences. You have a wounderful vehicle - enjoy it.

Many EU countries have strict laws about idle engine running and hence don't allow remote start this law has been there for a while. Car manufacturers do keep remote start for north america customers.. Don't just believe whatever the salesman says. Looks like you didn't do your homework too?

The salesman was correct.

No "spade" here. I appriciate what I have. If I didn't, i would get rid of it; instead of blinding complaining to strangers whom I don't know and don't care. I'm not going to worry about the other side of the fence; that's no way to live.

Apparently, you ASSumed that I took the saleman's word. I did research it, and it wasn't available through BMW in the U.S. Certainly, I could have probably had one installed else where, but it would not have be incorporated in the key fob. Homework done!!!!

It is better now, you can start your car halfway around the world... For a small fee of course. 🤣

Assuming, of course, that you have paid for gasoline that MB forces us to purchase on a regular basis, because they insatlled a combustion engine.
