No GLE 63 S for 2023?

My Dealer thinks that orders will open in June for the 2023 GLE 63S so I have my name in for their first allocation but…
At best it would be nearly a year for delivery. Then my theory is that the GLE 63S might appear as an E Performance model.
A recent article by Motor 1 rumors that the G Wagon is being pushed out to 2024-will that happen to the GLE 63 S also?

https://www.motor1.com/news/563863/m...s-order-delay/

See this post detailing possible issues with E Performance maybe requiring it be redesigned as a PHEV with a larger battery:

Does anyone have any insight beyond the usually very good info from Fabbris1 d?

I don't believe the Motor1 article is implying that the G will appear as a MY24 vehicle but rather that the wait list is so long and that there are so many orders which extend all the way to 2024.

If that’s true then why aren’t any being produced? Mercedes cancelled all production for V8’s in 2021 and nothing is planned to start until the 2023 model and even that’s not firm but word of mouth from Mercedes Regional Sales staff. My Dealer is sitting on at least one G Wagon order that was cancelled with no current change to the order. You still can’t order a GLE 63…with the hope that maybe in June orders will open.
I think there’s a good chance that the issue with the E Performance setback is going to delay the V8 further. It’s not business as usual since the new EPA GHG regulations mandate much lower greenhouse gas emissions over the next 4 years. The E Performance V8 with a 10% improvement in emissions would seem to be required to meet the new GHG regs. Admittedly, I fell asleep trying to read the final regs passed in mid December but prior drafts required a 2.5% improvement in emissions each year over 4 years…among more specifics by type of emissions.
Edit-Should have said for the US Market. The V8’s are still available in Europe.
