missing options bacause of ship shortage?

I just noticed on a build I am doing that these options will be missing...anyone building a 2022 or bought a 2022 missing features because of the chip shortage? This GLE450 has third row option.

Those look like new ones to me…there are several recent threads on missing options.

the D33 and D34 are options that come with the memory seat option which has been taken out because of chip shortages.

You will still get electric adjusted seats but with manual adjustment for headset and tight cushion and no memory buttons.

If they are taking the memory features out, do the buttons stay or what goes in their place? Dummy buttons? Just curious to know if MB is so cheap that they take out the feature but leave the buttons. I seriously doubt they are redesigning the door panels.

You can see the difference when you build the car on Mercedes’ website. You also lose the ability to control the passenger seat from the drivers seat control panel.

Impressive. I figured they would just put blank buttons in there.

because of the chip shortage I am considering getting the last batch of the 2021 models as they are just getting unloaded right now in our dealerships here (yeah they are THAT delayed). Also the 2021 models are somehow cheaper by $3100 on the 450. The 2021 I am looking at wont have the missing memory seat on the passenger side but I have to live with the missing tech package (no fancy led multi-beam, hand gesture, heads-up display) which I think are fine. Will not get the air suspension this time as I find the ride to be okay.

My 2021 GLE 350 (built between October-December 2020) did not come with the passenger seat control button on the driver's side. This was standard in my prior E300 but for the GLE is it an optional feature?

Chris how do you like the 4 banger? Do you regret getting it at all? Have you loaded up the truck to the gills (5 full adults with a full cargo on the back) and drove it in the highway passing big rigs? How about gas mileage?

I own a 2020 GLE 4 matic with 3 rows. I drive it with 4 adults and 2 teenagers all the time. It has no problem effortlessly cruising along at 75-80 mph on I-95 in 9th gear turning ~ 1700 RPM fully loaded. The 4 cylinder has 250 HP, so it’s not like it is a 1980 4 cylinder with 120 HP.

When was a senior in high I remember lusting after the Ford Taurus SHO. It had a 3.0 V6 with a Yamaha built 4 valves per cylinder overhead valve train and a 5 speed manual transmission. Car and driver said it made superbike Horsepower per Liter….a whopping 210 HP. Technology has continued to evolve.

Obviously if you often find yourself driving 80 on a two lane road and and need to quickly accelerate to 95+ to pass, then get the 450. Same applies if you do a lot of mountain driving at high altitude and often need accelerate quickly to pass— the extra HP of the 450 will be missed. However if you mainly do interstate cruising at constant velocity, 250 HP is plenty. If You like to dart in and out of traffic like you’re in a NASCAR, get the 450, or better yet the AMG. It really depends on your unique driving style—my 2 cents.

I'll leave the darting in and out of traffic to my Mini R56 or C300 it is much more fun for that. I do have a little heavy right foot but I was happy with the NA ML350 V6. What worries me is the mountain pass with full load. We go skiing in the mountains twice a week during winter then during spring and summer we haul 3 folding fat tire ebikes (210lbs total) with 4 people in the vehicle and ±100-150lbs of extra cargo. On our ML350 3 ebikes fit perfectly because of the seat configuration and boxy trunk line but not on the new GLE 5 seater. The 7 seater option is a must for us as it can move the middle seats forward and recline a little bit to fit the bikes.

I wish I can have the 4 banger demo vehicle for 2-3 days and test it out in the mountains but no dealer wants to do that in here. You should have seen what the reaction of the guys at the dealership when I brought one of my ebikes to test it out. One of the guys asked me why would I put one inside then I told him I am putting 3 not 1 LOL! If I am paying for a +$100k CAD car a want to make sure my bikes fits inside or I go searching for a different vehicle.

Check out this thread: 350 Four-Banger

It addresses some of your questions. Also, my GLE has a receiver hitch so I'd use a receiver hitch bike rack. I assume you've considered those, but prefer to keep your bikes locked up and out of the weather?

They are ebikes so as much as possible I don't want to leave them out in the open as it cost a few thousand each and bike theft here is rampant. I also don't want to risk water going in to the electronics. I saw that thread and really threw a "what-if" in my head. Very hard to decide actually right now.

What to do with ebikes

Chris? Anyway I don’t mind it in the 4 cylinder engine in my GLE. Although I typically the only person in it, so far it feels like it has enough power to move as needed. The few times I had it filled with people and stuff (4 adults and the back filled) I felt as if my GLE was able to move well. I never felt any issue trying to pass anyone on the highway. As far as gas mileage, I honestly haven’t been checking because I tend to have a heavy foot and most of my driving is suburbs.

I dont want to have a trailer as it would add to the problem of parking the car and where to park the trailer when it is not in use. I was really hoping to get a X167 but cannot find a low mileage 2019 and that will solve all my problems. I wont buy a new GLS because it is so expensive.

Yes, I believe the front-passenger memory option will give you this feature, or you need the third row seat option, which will automatically add the otherwise stand alone front-passenger memory seat option. I have it and actually used it quite a bit to adjust seat for kids or VIP guest in the back lol.

I used to use it in my prior E300 quite often because the headrest would block the back window depending on who sat there last and it would add another blind spot when changing lanes or backing up. Luckily I have not had this issue with my GLE.

Unless I absolutely needed a vehicle, I would have passed in taking delivery with all that is missing.

What!? yet you accepted it? those items can be found on cheaper cars. I would take a HARD pass on that delivery. I can't imagine a +$80k car with a manual adjust steering wheel.
