Can you guys take a look at your GLEs and see what you can find on this area. It looks like a camera like a dashcam but my car does not have that option. There is a GLE580 with the dashcam option in the lot and it has the exact same thing.
Looks just like my GLE 580 which has the dash cam and surround cameras.
Maybe it’s the vibrating option on mine.
yours clearly shows a lens on it, mine does not. I wonder if there is prewiring behind it. Looks like a good spot to put in a aftermarket dashcam if it is empty.

You are right. There is something different on mine. Past the pictures though I can’t help or know.
Good luck.

I have Augmented Reality, but not Driver's assistance, and I have a camera there. So I would conclude it's where the AR camera goes.

If you are the adventurous type, can you yank open that cover of yours and take a picture of the internals? I pulled out mine when I was installing my dash cam and mine has a dummy camera in-place as I dont have Augmental Reality option (chip shortage...)
Yes. it is easy to pull out just start from the sides near the camera.
Hi Shotgun, when you were installing your dash cam, were you tapping the power and ground somewhere in there? I want to add a radar detector and a dash cam and it would be easier to wire to there than to the fuse box in the back of the car. I am not sure where else to get power from. Thanks for the tips. Oh, and I have the augmented navigation but not sure how to tell if I will ever be able to make the camera record... the aps icon on the dash, has a "coming soon" dash cam subscription? but not sure what it will mean operationally.

@shotgun_banjo Hey, I got it lose but it was one large piece and the mirror was blocking it from coming off. I could not see behind it either because of the rear view mirror. What am I doing wrong to remove it?

I tapped on the rain sensor as it has always on power then I used a hardwire kit with auto shut-off when it drops to a specific voltage (I have it set to 12.4v) I used the red (+) and brown (-) wire.
you need to pry the middle portion of the trim it comes in 2 pieces. Look at the pictures I posted above. Just make sure to be VERY CAREFUL as the plastic is thin. Use a prying tool not a screw driver. I found it easier to remove while the entire cover is hanging loose then start on the bottom of the clip (there are two - again look at the pictures I posted). I took that trim out maybe 4-5 times as I was adjusting the cut-off voltage of the dashcam so I got used to it already. It is held in-place really well so you need to give it a little tug but make sure to watch out for the slotted vents as you don't want your fingers pushing on those while prying it out or you will snap the vents.
