Weird Stuff That Makes You Question Your Sanity

Tonight I got in my SUV (2022 GLE 350) to run a quick errand. Since it was dark out, I noticed the ambient lighting and it was white, not the aqua green color I had chosen when I first brought it home. That was the first odd thing I noticed and it was easily corrected, but I wondered how it had gotten changed.
Since it was cold out, I decided to turn on the heated steering wheel. After the steering wheel was nice and hot, I decided to turn it off so I pushed the button in the same direction I had initially pressed it to turn it on. (Note: I noticed right after I got the car that the heated steering wheel on/off function wasn't very intuitive because whenever I wanted to turn it on or off, it required pressing the button the same direction for both actions. It has worked that way since I first got the car in September and I had finally gotten used to it.)
Tonight, in order to turn off the heated steering wheel, I had to pull the button/toggle back toward me, which is the way that I've always felt it should work. I swear it used to require pushing/toggling the button in the same direction to both turn it on and to turn it off. Now it actually functions intuitively where you push it forward to turn it on and pull it back to turn it off. Has anyone else noticed this change or am I just losing my mind?
I am wondering if there was some update that inadvertently ended up changing my ambient lighting choice and changed the way the heated steering wheel toggle/button functioned so that it now functions in a way that's more intuitive?

I have always pushed the button forward to turn the heated steering wheel on and then pulled it back to turn it off.

There is a setting that "animates" the ambient lighting. It can be done under Ambient Lighting in the App.

Looks like it’s time for an evaluation. I’ve had my car since 2020 and the heated steering wheel has always been push to turn on and pull to turn off. As to the ambient colors, there is also a setting to stream only one shade rather than rotate shades and colors. Good luck; we’ve all had various mental variations on a theme.

Of me or the car? LOL
I did change the lighting back to the color I had it set originally.
Thanks!

Nope, not just you, my 2020 GLE exhibits the same action you describe, push to turn on AND Push to turn off, I hope an OTA changes it though. Glad it wasn't just me that was holding this secret! LOL

Thank you! Glad I'm not the only one to have noticed this! Hopefully, yours will start functioning correctly, as well.

Thanks!
Mine changed once for no apparent reason from a solid color to alternating. It also does other strange things like the entry unlock doesn’t work but the key fob does & then it starts working again with the hand. Mine is also poor at math reading speed limit signs incorrectly. Maybe some of the chips came on the slow bus since the bright ones were unavailable!
