Not if the car is equipped with the HERMES module as is the case in many markets such as the US. The HERMES module is effectively a WiFi broadband router and MBUX is tethered to it. If the car is not equipped with the HERMES module, then a phone hotspot or MiFi can be used if tethering isn't disabled.

I haven't tried it myself but it seems Raj can code MBUX to use your phone's internet, though with some limitations so it wouldn't meet your use case regarding "the map and all other services":
https://rjautomotive.net/pages/coding-options
24. Use mobile phone as internet access point for MBUX via Wifi or Bluetooth & Activate Video Browser in MBUX - 2 Credits
•Allow tethering of the MBUX headunit to use data from your mobile phone. Please note this will limit some of the online services in MBUX including live traffic, online weather, online hey Mercedes & online map updates. Mercedes Me App features will still work fine. Car must have SA CODE 549 - MBUX HIGH

I am using AppleCar play but wandering if could use the phone's internet when service are due for renewal, so do not have to pay! It does not make sense as Mercedes wants to make money but just trying.

not sure where else to put this but you can talk to your car when you are bored sooner or later?

I really need these useless gimmicks in my everyday life. You know... doing things like driving to the gym, grocery store, Costco and other errands. I already deal with enough BS screens and tech in my life. I don't want it following me into the car. It's getting insane.

I left the video at 1:23 after he said: "an immersive entertainment experience that is more interactive then ever" - are you selling home theatres or cars - ffs?

QUOTE=Ron.s;8533438]Wondering if this will be built on the new SoC that they have been working on with NVIDIA? I read a few months ago that Mercedes was also going to transition to start using some newer chips in the future. I don’t know much about the subject but here’s an interesting article for tech dummies like me….

It would be nice if Mercedes could get the bugs out of the existing MBUX system (after 3+ years) and still build the new system.[/QUOTE]
