I am trying to figure which oil to use for my 2020 GLE 350. There are multiple threads here and appear to mention that the dealer uses the wrong grade 5W-40 229.5 and there is another thread someone is using 0W 30 for there 2020 GLC with video. I just want to make sure to use the right order. I am OK with using an oil that is better on the engine than the fuel economy because I do not drive that often. I appreciate all responses.

In a recent oil change my dealer used the SAE 229.5 0W-40 here in Oregon (229.51 & 229.52 are the latest iterations). It would help to know where you live (add to your profile). For areas that get very cold (e.g. Alaska) you might want to go 0W-40. 0W-30 or 5W-30 are okay if you never seen temps above 85. 10W-50 can be used in areas that are always warm to hot. API categories SN or SN+ are a must. All in all, 5W-40 is the most common for year around use.

5W-40 has an operating range of -22F - +104F and should be fine for your conditions.
trying to find one but they all say MB 229.5. When I checked my last service, MB gave me 229.50. Mercedes is selling the same oil on amazon that was used on my car but the chart says .51 or 52. Can you confirm these two I should not get because it's 229.5?

SAE 229.5 is fine. -.51 & .52 are minute tweaks to the formula to make them useable for diesels, but also good for gas.

got it I thought there was only one link. Didn't notice the ebay link to that oil (looks the exact same as the one on amazon). Thanks very much for your help.
