1st Oil Change DIY on my 2020 GLE v167 Completed
This was a great experience. It may have taken me about 3 hours but I was trying to be careful and making sure I did everything correctly. The oil filter and drain plug was really difficult to loosen but eventually I was able to get them loose. If anyone has any questions or needs any help with doing an oil change on a GLE 350 (M264 Engine), I will be able to help. When you put a new filter back in, did you push the filter in the filter housing cap then screw on? Or did you put the filter in the engine then screw the cap on top of that? I found it hard to put the filter+cap in with the charge pipe blocking its way.

Genuine Filter from MBparts and 5W 40 Genuine oil from MB 229.5. I know that is not the right one per MBs operating fluids but for the past few years that is all MB dealership was given me per my invoices for service. So, I left it the same. But you should use the correct one 229.51 or 52.

That part was a hassle. I removed the entire air duct from the Air filter to make it a little easier, then I made sure to loosen up the oil filter cap enough to remove by hand. Then, when I was pulling out the oil filiter cap I was simultaneously pushing it slightly down while pushing the other housing above up (not sure what the part (think it was the charging pipe) was but it was also connected to the engine air filter and was above the oil filter cap). I made sure to have a cloth under the filter to make sure nothing leaked.
How did you put it back in? Filter snapped into lid first or let the filter sit in the engine then screw on lid?

I did everything in reverse (pushed down simultaneously the cables at the bottom while pushing the charging pipe a bit upwards) when putting the oil filter cap back in. It was much easier getting it back in. I wiggle it a little until the leg of the oil filter was in the hole where it was supposed to go then I continued to screw it on by hand. After that, I used my torque to finish the job. I did 20lb. The oil drain plug was a whole different story. That you may have a little bit of a hard time. That sucker took me a good 20 minutes to unscrew. Even though my car was on ramps laying down and trying to unscrew on a angle was a pain. But boy oh boy it was well worth it.

Yes everything was really straightfoward. Should have gotten 21''. I will be doing brake pads soon. That will be my next project.
