Recall on 48 Volt Battery Ground Connections
I just found out this morning there is a letter going out to affected owners about the recall on cars with the 48 volt system. It seems Mercedes has now discovered during the painting process many cars had the ground bolt connection painted which resulted in a poor or no connection when starting. We all knew about this a year ago but there is finally a recall. I talked to the dealer and they said they had been checking all cars that arrived at the dealership with the 48 volt system for ground connections paint issues. If there was paint, it was cleaned and corrected before the car was sold.
They said since they have been doing this for nearly 9 months now, they have not had one car back that wouldn't start.
So, I guess this is good news going forward and hoping Mercedes will correct this ground painting problem.
Such a small thing that has caused so much aggravation for owners who were affected.
I had a new battery part number put in before I took delivery and the grounds were checked and cleaned at that time and I have had no starting problems at all.
Thought I would share this.
