😂 Love it Lucky thanks! I was thinking the same reading through all the contentious postings.
Particularly the 450 discussions…Makes me glad I got the 350 😅…Despite it’s supposed ‘gutlessness’, it’s sufficient for me, including merging, passing, etc. Rather have that than what I’m hearing about the 48V.

I have those little devices in my cars that monitor driving habits to get an insurance discount and get way more "Rapid Acceleration Event" warnings in my 350 than when I drive the Jag with it's V8.
Any love for the other 99% who haven't had any big problems and like the car?
Why would people who are happy with their car and dont have any problems need love and support?
How extending sympathy for people who are having problems offends those who have no problems is beyond me... When someone tells your friend they are sorry they are sick, do you say "Hey, what about those of us who aren't sick?"

I'd try explaining but you probably still wouldn't get it...

Man, no way I'd be saddled with the insurance company nanny!
Let's face it. Every manufacturer has its issues. If they didn't, service departments would be out of business. Can't survive changing oil and wiper blades. Thankfully, "most" issues are covered under warranty; albeit somewhat inconvenient. It's not the end of the world when something goes wrong; it is a piece of machinery. We can't go through life taking it personally as if MB or any other manuf. did it intentionally to screw us.
These last few years have been though on everyone - manuf. and especially consumers. No one could have predicted this or done anything to control the supply chain and shutdowns. IMO, we need to start taking things into perspective and move on. No need for anger and negativity; since, it's not going to resolve anything.
BTW, I too have had issues, but I am very happy with my first MB.
It does seem that some are quite insulted if people actually like their rigs. Get ready.
I think you will find that if you don't try and marginalize people with issues and minimize their issues they will have no problem with you being happy with your car.

That is definitely true, however a lot of the problem threads are venting and whining threads, instead of taking the car in for service and try to get the issue addressed there. I know I know, you may get it back with "we can't reproduce the issue", but as a software engineer myself I'm constantly in that position when the users don't give me the exact steps or I don't have access to their data to reproduce the issue, so it ends up being a guessing game on my end trying to recreate the issue.
If you have an issue you gonna need to take the time to show them the issue and how to reproduce it. Don't just drop off the car and tell them to fix it. Go for a ride with the shop foreman and demonstrate the issue. That usually results in actually getting it fixed if the problem isn't obvious. It may still take a couple of visits before it is finally resolved if they haven't seen the issue before. For example my C63's suspension made an electronic buzzing noise that others had experienced as well. It took three service appointments, a video of the issue and getting the service manager involved for them to finally track it down to the rear dampers and replace them. I insisted that the issue get escalated to AMG and that finally did the trick. The car was still drivable with the noise, so it's not like I was stranded or the issue was urgent. It's nice to have it resolved now and I moved on.

Understandably, owners of cars with issues are frustrated, annoyed or angry, depending on the problem at hand, which is often magnified when dealers, wether perceived or real, don't seem to help as expected. Nothing new here...
But the choice of language and generalizations in these threads set the tone of the responses. "This is a poorly engineered and designed POS" will draw a very different response than "I have issues with noisy wiper blades. Anybody have a solution?"... Always OK to vent but those threads are rarely productive.
Also understandable that people that are happy with their cars will take issues with those broad statements. Accusing them of being fanboys won't help either.
We have too many unproductive threads in the V167 forum with too much bickering and noise, including this one...
The language I use stems a lot from certain people attacking and insulting me for posting issues. I didn’t initially start out that way, but every time I tried to post a concern the amount of general harassment I receive has escalated and it pissed me off even more. And it’s not just me, in my brief time here, I’ve watched them do the same to others, especially if they cast MB in any negative light. A post below encapsulates everything that is wrong with this place and exactly what I’ve had to endure; too often we get flamed and typecast for posting concerns. These people will also blissfully come out blaming user error or purposely say that’s how it’s supposed to work, ignoring years of posts of people having similar issues that are clearly attributed to a bad design or broken part. I’ve seen this happen a lot and it has repeatedly happened to me. It’s like they’re afraid to say the obvious; something is probably wrong with the car
This car does have major fundamental problems. There’s a lot evidence found elsewhere (Reddit and Consumer Reports, etc) and here that reinforces that and I’m experiencing them first hand. There’s nothing wrong with calling it a POS. That’s not an insult against any member here.

If someone enjoys their car, it is an insult to them for you to come along and call their car a POS.
You've clearly had some bad luck with your car, and hopefully MB can make it right, but its no reason to go into every thread calling the car a POS.

As someone who's spent a career in the service industry, I can attest this is 100% true!
I'm in the communications industry in the public safety area and have always taken what I do very seriously. If the radio in the cruiser or ambulance doesn't work, someone could die. So after getting up at 1:00 am and driving to the state police barracks, I walk in and ask the trooper at the desk what's wrong so I can get it fixed for them. The reply...."These radios all suck". Nothing killed my enthusiasm to get them back in a happy place faster.
And to the OP who started this thread, he doesn't even own a GLE so what was the point?

The issue is the people who post about wiper blades are getting attacked too, and when they get attacked it turns them into "my car is a total POS" posters.
I've posted on multiple forums of cars that have a large example of problematic vehicles, and I have been both a poster who did not have issues, and I have been one who did have issues. I think you will find that if people had been/have been more supportive, or just even ignored people who have issues then the people with issues wouldn't go to the "the car is a POS" level. It becomes a competition between the two of them which results in what you see now. You also have just a few people that are causing the issue.
I don't have a GLE, I'm just in the shopping stage, but I have been attacked by a certain few posters simply for making any borderline negative type statement about the GLE, even saying it rides "somewhat floaty like a traditional luxury car", I was attacked for suggesting that people find an independent mechanic instead of use the dealer. You get attacked for ANY post that is in any way somewhat not positive. Yes you have a few unhappy owners who have become toxic to a degree, but you do also have a few toxic fanboy types...and it becomes a chicken and the egg thing.
The issue is people that have to defend their purchase decisions against anybody else who is unhappy with theirs. If you want to see a forum here where that is handled by the members well, look at the W223 forum. You RARELY see happy members attack the many members with issues, other than just to say "Man that sucks, mine has been fine but I would feel the same way"...another example is the GLS forum, same vehicles essentially and same issues but this doesn't happen.

Your views are spot on. The unusual thing is that personal attack posts are allowed to continue on this site.
In recent months there have been a few more aggressive "my MB POS" posters. They differ from the four Usual Suspects who just cut and paste the same "I hate MB" stuff whenever possible.
For some reason these new participants are offended if someone asks a clarifying question, trying to figure out what their actual problem is.
We haven't seen many answers to the clarifying questions, which seems to indicate they can't describe the problem, so we again try to help.
Instead, they lash out at people who are trying to help, name calling, misquoting, threatening off-line, arguing with truth and generally making fools of themselves.
Still, long term Forum participants continue to assist, or try.
Then of course all Heck breaks loose if somebody suggests a fix, especially if solves the problem. Somehow they call it an "attack." Speaks volumes.
More Heck breaks loose if one of the POS posters is corrected about a erroneous statement they make.
If those misleading statements are left on the forum, new visitors will perceive it as true and repeat it, but it's still false. Not sure if any Forum is very useful if bad info isn't questioned.
Then there are the mis-qouters who don't know where the posts came from, some who actually edit the posts and, essentially, attack themselves. I've been the victim of such misqouting, and it's hard to correct.
It appears to be an effort to discredit people who they don't like. I've had them follow me to unrelated forums and just argue some more. Speaks volumes.
