It's a good reason to wipe your car before trading. (Factory reset.}
And to send in that Change of Address form, so you'll get recall notices.
And maybe to Carfax.

I can’t help it. I didn’t even tell CarFax I owned that car. I signed up for a CarFax account a long time ago and mysteriously every car I buy gets automatically associated with me and shows up on my dashboard. I suspect the dealer is providing this information because they are also obviously logging all service visits. My S-500 magically appeared on my CarFax account without any knowledge or any effort on my part.
So, unless the new owner can somehow change it, I get to see every service call that happens.

I've only used it to research individual cars, for 60 days and then I don't have access.
It's something to consider when entering a longer-term subscription.

I’m not subscribed. I just created an account a long time ago to check on one car. CarFax is instructive and so are the dealers for tagging cars to me on what I thought was a dormant account. They must get something out of it, like free commercial vehicle checking, provided they volunteer info. The only legal implications is that I’m sure I signed away any privacy rights during the vehicle paperwork.

My response was directed to other people here, who seem more concerned about it than me, saying “it’s creepy.” Well, it wasn’t my choice.

FWIW, I was able to sign in to my also dormant CarFax account.
There are no notifications, no cars listed to me (even the two I actually owned or now own, that I had researched before purchase).
The two reports I paid for were not available either, as they expired in 60 or 90 days.
I had the "notify me" selection turned off. I turned it on, to see if spurious cars show up. I have five cars and CarFax doesn't know about any of them.

Go to my car maintenance and see if any cars show up there.
Every new car I’ve purchased new since 2015 (which is six) shows up for me, except for one. The only thing I can think of for the one that doesn’t show up is that particular dealer group doesn’t actively participate in an institutional CarFax account, at least at the time of purchase. The five other cars were from three dealer groups and they must all participate because they’re all there.

No. It really doesn’t bother me, but it should bother others who assume ownership of used cars that are on other people’s profile because the dealer assigned it to them. I imagine the permission to do what they are doing is buried in the contract I signed when I purchased the car new. But I really don’t care to look.

And my Dealer(s) participates in the Carfax program - all their services showed up when I did my searches.
But nothing is attached to my account, not even the expired search on one I currently own, which showed their PDI.

Well don’t know what to say about your account.
The only common denominator between CarFax and the car sale is my email address, which is common across every car I purchased and my CarFax account. Carfax doesn’t even know my name, at least it’s not associated with my account online. Just my email address and an old out-of-date zip code.

I believe I’m having the same issue with one of my shocks rattling. If you don’t mind, how much did this set you back?

Brand New 2023 GLE 6k miles. Interior front end rattle with acceleration. Never a rattle on bumps or potholes. Really annoying to have a rattling $70k new car. Appt on 11/17 to check on this. Took 2 weeks to get the appointment.

Same here. Only rattle I have experienced, so far. Mentioned it once, and dealership took care of it right away, and replaced both shocks. Nice and quiet ever since.

BTW my test song is Ennio Morricone's Good-Bad-Ugly theme (on lossless Apple music stream) or Greenback bogie 'Suits' version on Apple music.
Something to fix indeed. Rattles and bad speakers drive me nuts.
Update on this:
- In Jan, the Svc center said they will order the parts but said the head unit has to be replaced. I was scratching my head as to why but was told the 'technician' said it needed to be done and that the part was back ordered and 'will come when it comes'.
- Fast fwd to end of May - took it to svc'ing and asked them about this issue as well. And when I got the car back, they said they've replaced the speakers (roof/headliner speakers) - which made a lot more sense to me.
- No buzzing (kind of falsetto when the note hits medium high frequencies - like in a sax/trumpet). We were overjoyed as we drive straight from the center for a long drive on memorial day. But the joy lasted for 30 mins and the buzzing got back. When I press 'up' the speakers into their housing, the buzzing stops.
- I think the issue is the speaker housing and fitment - there is some chord or connector or flap which is vibrating at its resonance frequency which is there for a few seconds in certain songs.
- I have decided to give up on getting this fixed unless I find another fellow crazy nut like me (or my son) who has our patience but additionally has the ability to disassemble and refit the speakers with some small packing/rubber cushion and check. Dealership/svc are basically kind of semi literate about this and know only one thing - replace it and be done with it.

Update in April 2024:
We didn't give up on this and took the car to another service center.
- They said some connection / wire was not positioned properly in the speaker behind the steering wheel
- Car was out of warranty so I was charged a fee for fixing this.
- Speaker noise was from the roof liner embedded speakers, so obviously this wire/connection behind dash didn't fix this issue, but the audio was a bit brighter and the highs became crisper
- I took the car back as roof speaker noise was still there. They took time and finally said it is a limitation - there was nothing loose/vibrating in the speaker assembly/speaker grille, and the noise was there only with sound mode in '3D surround' and that too for a few songs (I've listed a couple above in my earlier post). Plus they had changed one speaker already under warranty and still it made noise; so no point in changing the other speaker either
- So, two weeks and $500 later, we were happy that we helped with field testing the Burmester 25 spkr system! :-)
