I haven't made a 580 comparison, but comparing the new AMG53 to my 2021, with the now standard equipment, the price increase was negligible. About $500 or so.

I have been hopping around dealers and I noticed that sometimes "22U - Pre-installation for MBUX Entertainment" shows up in the order option details, and sometimes it does not. The order guide mentions that 22U is "Music Streaming". If a build is missing this code, however it still opted for the "DX2 - Pinnacle Trim", what would happen to the music streaming? I am guessing that I will just need to install Spotify into the mbux when I receive the GLE 450w4, or what should I be expecting, if any?
The other hypothesis is that the dealer did not enable 22U in netstar, is any dealer here reading could confirm this?
EDIT: My new hypothesis is that the feature is included in the sheet, however it was excluded during the printing process because the text was too close to the edge of the paper border. I can be confirmed by looking at the standard options, and I notice GUARD 360, All Season Tires, and a couple other options were missing because they would have been printed at the edge of the paper. So I got worried over nothing 😅

Black Piano Lacquer Flowing Lines wood trim
Ordered a 2024 GLE 450 back the first day in May that the dealer called. Vehicle is still in the green and has production date of last week of September. Dealer emailed me an update of the order - in May had put down Walnut trim with a wood steering wheel - this was accepted. Now this week I get a revised order that has removed the AIRMATIC Package, my Walnut trim and one more thing that I have to locate.
They replaced the Walnut trim with the Black Piano Lacquer Flowing Lines - requirement now with a wood steering wheel.
Does anyone have this, how easy is it to take care of? does it scratch? know it has to be a fingerprint magnet. - and if the lines bother you? (could see that happening with someone that is in the car with OCD). I am bummed out about these changes.
If I go back to walnut trim then it defaults to the standard steering wheel.
Thanks in advance for any info.

Currently have 2020 450 with walnut trim and wood steering wheel. Really like the wood steering wheel. Just ordered a 2024 450 going to trade in the 2020. Wanted to get the same walnut trim and steering wheel. Got the same answer, only wood steering wheel with piano wood. I'm sticking with the walnut and will forgo the wood steering wheel. I think the piano wood will show grease marks, etc. Plus don't love black color. Too bad.

Yes, new way to get more $ out of us. The Walnut was $160 and the Black Lacquer is $850 - so a difference of $690.
Wood steering wheel is a $600 option. Yes I tried to just get the wood steering wheel and no go. Going with the walnut and standard wheel - saved $1,290.

I've wondered for a while, how a few pieces of wood that are essentially spray painted in Lacquer can cost 5x more than the same few pieces of wood stained with a shiny polyurethane type coating. Hell, the wood covered in lacquer can be of poorer aesthetic appeal given that you can't actually see the wood underneath.

Illuminated star deleted
Received this message yesterday when ask if could be added to my order (didn't think it could due to Distronic)
My ordered GLE 450w production date is 9/15/23.
"Factory build says the illuminated star was deleted."

hello there, first time posting here, had a quick question.
I placed an order for a GLE350 back in mid June, I was originally told the car would be ready late august. Then I got an email from the dealership saying there was delays and it won't be ready until late november. Which is an additional 3 months ??
when I first went to the dealership I asked him does mercedes still have any chip shortages and he said no, they had all the chips they needed to move forward with production. I live in southern Ontario Canada not sure if that helps, but my question is basically has anyone else run into this issue? and does anyone know what the actual delay IS? is it a chip issue or is it something else ?
Thank you.

Have GLE 450w on order April - now has build date of 9-15-23. Several things removed from order have been dash cam and Airmatic. Was advised they have the chips for the dash cams, but they are not using them for the GLE but the higher end vehicles. (dash cam was on front facing anyway).

Did they give you a production number?
Did you leave a deposit for the signed order?
If you left a deposit and they gave you a production date, then the delays are probably bona fide.
If not, it could be anything, including their not having an allocation right away, but I think this would be unlikely with a 350.
Shortages of anything are unpredictable right now, and not really improving.
Many of the smallest companies in the supply chain have struggled with production and some have gone out of business, as a general statement.

3 months makes me suspicious. It wouldn't be the first time that a sold order went to someone offering more $. Probably not what happened but still!!!
That's a long delay and requires the paperwork mentioned above to make sure it's legit. What was the explanation for the delay?

I can't help with any reasons for delay, but did you get a production date?

I was reading here how everyone else has been given production dates and I was wondering if I should be getting one? Again I ordered in mid June and still don't even have a production time/date.
once again I live in Canada I'm not sure if that means they do things differently up here maybe ? Also if anyone has advice about what I should maybe do going forward please feel free to comment here, I'm open to suggestions. Should I contact the dealership and ask for a production number/schedule ?
Here is the email I recieved
"Hello, I wanted to send an update on your vehicle order, as there have been some delays to the production schedule. The Mid-August production vehicles have been pushed back to Mid-October and we expect they will arrive at the dealership in late November. We also received a message asking to confirm the interior choice for the vehicle. The black Artico interior isn’t available for vehicles that include the Pinnacle Trim Package (DP2) because of the Multicontour Front Seats with Massage Function and Luxury Front Headrests. Would you like us to add the Black Leather Option (201) at a cost of $2,105.00, or would you like to delete the Pinnacle Trim (DP2) package? Please let me know as soon as possible to prevent any further delays with the production schedule. I’ve attached an updated option sheet including the leather upgrade." - (I approved the change for the leather seats - is it possible I lost my spot in the production schedule because of this issue ?)
thank you again to everyone who has taken the time to respond.

Wonder what was behind this decision???? Diamond White is still a big seller - have 3 cars that color and still love it. Haven't seen the Moonlight White yet.

Did anyone notice the GLE580 has been removed from MBUSA build & price? For some time it said "Pricing Coming Soon"...now it has been completely removed. Same with the AMG GLE 63! Wonder if the V8 is dead in the GLE now?

Wow! The GLE build configurator is a hot mess. Every time I build an AMG GLE 53 SUV, when I click on a option, it says "We are sorry. An error occurred while making your selection, please try again." EVERY TIME! So pretty much I can't build one. Interesting is that I can build all of the other GLE models and AMG GLE 53 Coupe. Just not the AMG SUV variant.
