My problem is different: I successfully downloaded all maps last month and installed with no problems. Seeing new maps were available, I tried to repeat the process but the download manager stopped working. It could write the mmdmUpdate directory on a fresh ExFAT 32gb flash, but could not see the directory to write new map data. All permissions are rw.
MME support is hopelessly unable to direct my call.

Did you try reformatting your memory stick?

Yes many times. ExFAT with MBR.
Note the software can see the drive and create /untitled/mmdmUpdate OK.
Something changed in Mercedes Download.

Maybe try uninstalling the Mercedes software, restart, and then reinstall it. I had no issues with it just a week ago using Windows.

Did that using aftermarket cleaner. No change.

@edpare You should mention that you are on macOS according to your other thread. The download manager works fine on Windows. Not sure how many here have successfully used it on a Mac, but I remember others having issues specifically on macOS.

Good point!
MacOS Ventura (latest) unchanged since last successful use 2weeks ago.

If you format the memory card using a Mac, or download update files using a Mac, you should use a small program called "CleanEject". Macs write a couple of hidden files to external storage devices that may confuse your Mercedes.

That's a good tip. MacOS does this for file systems such as FAT, because those file systems don't support multiple streams per file, so MacOS puts the resource stream into a separate ._ file with the same extension as the file containing the data. This can confuse another system that is looking for files with specific extensions as it's reading those resource stream files, but they don't contain the expected data. File systems such as HFS and HFS+, APFS as well as NTFS support multiple streams per file. I'm not sure how MacOS treats NTFS, but I'm assuming it doesn't create those resource stream files since the file system does support multiple streams. MBUX/COMAND does support NTFS, so I recommend you format your media with NTFS and not any of the FAT systems.

I downloaded the CleanEject app but my MacOS Ventura 13.5.1 won't let it run: error messages I've never seen before. Apple really does not like this file. I did also format the drive on a PC and tried to download maps on the PC but it still would not write the file(s).

What's your version of the download manager? I'm on v1.0.12 and just did another successful update in July to the latest maps on my Windows 10 machine using my usual SD card formatted as NTFS. My maps are for COMAND NTG 5.5, so your MBUX maps are slightly different, but it's just downloading files and writing them to the external media. Have you tried formatting with NTFS? I never use the FAT formats anymore.

MacOS can read NTFS formatted drives but not write. There are some command line hacks to enable writing but it is not officially supported. MacOS can only format Fat32 and ExFat. NTFS is not an option.

I just downloaded a map update to an ExFat formatted USB drive using the Mercedes Download program. I then ran cleaneject and removed the drive. I will try the update tomorrow in the car.

what error message did you get?

Now that you mention it I remember the write restriction with NTFS. I was mainly referring to using NTFS on his Windows machine as he also seems to have tried it on Windows. He isn't restricted to FAT32 or exFAT on Windows, so should use NTFS. MacOS has always been problematic with interoperability.

EDIT: Given that his Mac also rejects CleanEject, I'm starting to wonder if he's running some kind of anti malware software that is screwing things up.

Probably the built in security. If Mercedes has not updated the security credentials, MacOS will refuse to run the software. The same may apply to the CleanEject software. You can work around this by finding the application using finder and the control-clicking on the app. Select open and follow the instruction to run the software. You will have to put in your password.

My update appeared to run properly. I can't figure out how to display the map version. The online manual instructions don't seem to work.
