For 2020-2023 GLE & GLS, the only way to activate dashcam is to have it activated at the factory. The only other way is to purchase it through the Mercedes me Store when you have AR nav, but MBUSA decided to not offer it for MBUX v1 cars due to "quality issues". This changed in 2024 where the app was improved and works better for MBUX v2.

Augmented Video for Navigation (U19) is constrained until December 2024 production. A credit (Code D7B) will be issued for affected vehicles with Exclusive (DX1) or Pinnacle Trim (DX2). Dashcam (21U) is also constrained until December 2024 production.

As it happens car was in for 40k checkup yesterday and i asked the dealer about adding the Dashcam software, at first he didnt even know what i was talking about, then came back with $10k in equipment and software to do it - OMG.
So using the info you folks provided, i went to MB.VIN to see the options installed on the car, and U19 - Augmented Reality video is installed (which i thought so because video will pop up when using MB GPS for turns). Using the link https://shop.mbusa.com/en-us/connect/pdp/dashcam/608 this is all that is needed to install U20 - Dashcam via MBconnect. So will try that this evening or tomorow and see how that works.

you should file a compliant with Better Business or MB regarding dealership wanting to charge $10K for a $200 activation.

I was left spoiled from my '22 GLE350 which came with AR and dashcam. So when I traded for my current vehicle, I went the Fitcamx way which looks 100% stock.

How is the quality of the plastic hardware? Similar to the one it replaces? I worry about adding cheap looking plastic parts into my interior. This looks like an awesome, easy and factory looking installation.

I just sent Fitcam pictures and email - wondering how it fits with the existing cam there already? just another cam underneath?

Fit and finish is just as would be if it were stock. Color matches perfectly.
My FitcamX arrived today and it's installed. The installation gave me a few headache moments, I had a helluva time getting that center trim piece detached from the bigger surrounding part. For anyone attempting this, you just pull it off, it does take some force. You don't need to slide or wiggle, all which I attempted with no success. Just pull it forward and the clips will release. The overall look is 100% factory, I would consider nothing else for this vehicle.
Does it work for you augmented reality for Navigation? I was going to activate on my 2020 GLE 350 whish does have the option. But I now going to pay $200 bucks a year just for one item.
When I try to enable it., it sez it's not activated.

I just installed my FitcamX yesterday as well - in all took about 15min - installed in 2021 GLS450 without issue. Only issue/slow down was as he pointed out - the center/smaller plastic insert just didnt want to come out, worked it free by plying more pressure where it clips in on the bottom, then the top and it worked. Connections were super simple and the replacement plastic cover fit perfectly. Mine is installed and i have the AR cam already, this one just goes underneath it, no blocking, all works fine. Setup for the Fitcamx is just install the app, connect to its little wifi, format the SD card, and worked great....turns on automatically and off when car is. also tested downloading to my phone and worked great.

From what I understand, you have the AR Mercedes camera installed and you also installed FitcamX. AR nav works with the installed Mercedes camera and as a dashcam you have FitcamX. It's like that? Is it easy to post a photo so we can see how the setup looks?

Sure attaching photo here - basically the new cam is about an inch below the MB AR cam.....
as luck has it - used the dashcam this past weekend to show me pulling into parking lot, it recorded large suv next to me with license so i knew who slammed their door into my car and made a deep dent with paint removed....sent to their insurance. Fitcam installed in 2021 MB GLS450

No - all your MB functions/features are untuched and work as they would. The Fitcam benefits those cars where we can not activate the Dashcam function, some MB models do, or do in some countries, but some do not.
Only installation change with the Fitcam to the MB is the shared power to the windshield water sensor, and change out the plastic around the top of the review mirror (looks exactly the same to me)
to get the video's off the Fitcam, it connects via wifi, when you want, and just click the video and comes down to your phone - easy to use.

wont see anything from interior because the plastic wrap looks exactly like it does not - it looks great installed, like it has always been there
