No clue why it would be yellow underneath there

I wonder if the door was damaged during transport and they had to redo it and used a yellow primer before selling it? And maybe that's why you're seeing a peeling effect.

Who knows? If that was the case, I'd love to know their body shop since their work was a perfect match. It's certainly a possible explanation.
Btw I know most car primers are grey, but I have seen yellow primers too (like this urethane one: Summit Racing SUM-UP221G Summit Racing™ 2K High-Build Primer | Summit Racing)

I noticed some time ago, a person knowledgeable about paint finishes said that he buys white cars. Do white cars show less orange peel? I too buy white cars simply because we like the color. Thanks

That looks like paint transfer, Take some Gas and rub it on, see if it comes off.

Take a paint meter to the door and then the rest of the car. It shouldn't be yellow underneath.

White has the same amount of orange peel, it just has less reflectivity and you notice the orange peel less.

You can reduce to ridding orange peel by cutting and buffing. Of course this is best for a detailer but I'll let you in a secret. I did this on my own car and it took hours, when I say hours, I mean a day and half.

You would need to wetsand to minimize orange peel, and you're loosing a lot of clearcoat.

You really are losing a ton of clear coat by doing this. Should not be done on a new car.
