2023 GLE 450
I got a good deal on 2023 GLE450, should I cancel 2024 GLE450 order?

I just received a good deal on a 2023 GLE 450 (has been in dealer's parking lot for 2 months), basically the similar price to the 2024 model I ordered. The 2023 one has more options. I am on the fence that if I should cancel 2024 order for this 2023 model.

2023 model has AMG exterior pkg , exterior lighting pkg and driver assistance pkg, which the 2024 model I ordered won't have. ( wife likes illuminated star and will just drive the car locally so we didn't order driver assistance pkg. AMG exterior and lighting pkg are nice to have but not necessary for us.).

Any thoughts? I really don't care about the facelift.

My concern is about the 48v battery hybrid system. Has MB done any improvement on the 2024 model?

I'd personally choose the 2023 just for the steering wheel. Nobody does capacitive controls well, and Mercedes certainly hasn't made any breakthroughs with the technology.

Depending on the discount, I’d go with the 23. The driver’s assistance pkg is good and safer. The exterior package imo makes the car look great too. What numbers did they promise you off of sticker?

The 2024 is the facelift right? It is mid 2023 and 2024 is already out. Facelift usually depreciates the previous model year a lot and especially true if it is a new generation (not in this case, since it is "just" a facelift") and on top of that, the yearly depreciation so 2023 vs 2024. Buying a 2023 right now in the automotive world is seen as buying "a year older" car depending on how you look at it.

Depends on how much you like/hate the new changes of the facelift, including revised headlights and bumper and grille, and upgraded interior infotainment system probably different trims, different wheels, different body colour, different leather colour etc.

The big factor is this "good deal" you got do you think it is good enough putting account the deprecation of a model year older plus the depreciation the 2024 facelift added to your 2023 model and if the changes are something you hate and rather have the pre-facelift? If the answer is yes, get the 2023.

I wouldn't be concerned with the 48v system at this point. I have a 2021 GLE 450 and have not had any 48v issues.

The only feature of the facelift that I think has any value is the wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. I had Android Auto in a previous car, but it was wired and I never used it, because most of my trips are fairly short, and I don't like having to take my phone out of my pocket. I have wireless AA in my current car and I use it every day and I wouldn't want to go back.

My opinion: if CarPlay and Android Auto don't matter to you, go with the 2023.

nope, but it has wired. The facelift is what introduced wireless and if I remembered correctly, it also doesn't have full screen as well.

A $50-70 dongle for wireless android or Carplay can solve this. I have one for Android and it's been fabulous, works without a hiccup. The lack of fullscreen bothers me though.

Have you looked at CPOs with 5k miles or less as a comparable?

You can always use the BT connection, and the audio will start when you start the car.
Maps are another matter. I really don't like Waze or Gmaps for NAV, but many do.

I find the built in MB Navigation system works well for me. If optioned with AR that is also kind of cool too and helps with not turning onto the wrong street.

2023 GLE450, 2021 E350 / Used to drive: 2019 E300, 2021 + 2020 GLE350, 2019 E450 Wagon(s), 2017 E300
Discounted 2023 with driver assist with lighting package would have me at hello. Everything still over sticker here and 2 year old used GLEs selling for sticker two years later with 25,000 miles on them.(and they actually sell - they don't sit.) Insane market still - the local dealer had a nicely equipped CPO GLE350 for sale a few months ago with a rip in the driver's seat - they wouldn't fix it and it sold anyway... I would call that sales guy back before they change their mind. Best of luck with whatever you decide.

the discount might be different location by location. Back to April, when I ordered my 2024 GLE 450, I also got $3,500 off MSRP from another dealership.
If you check GLC forum , people are getting 9%-10% off MSRP now. Except for Honda(not Acura) and Toyota (including Lexus), you can negotiate the price for all other brand cars, at least in my area (my friend got $5,000 off discount for a brand new MDX). Chips shortage has already gone. Particularly , for GLE, a $70,000-$80,000 car, not all American families can afford it, the demand is not as much as you have imagined. Buyers have negotiation power, not dealers.

I'd take it for a drive at night (if your dealer allows you to) to see if the headlight is worthwhile, it is to some. Also the Drivers Assistance is one of the feature I didn't care but it actually have been a neat feature in my 2.5 yrs of ownership, with roadtrips and also sitting in heavy traffic.

For most people the AMG exterior pkg , exterior lighting pkg and driver assistance pkg IS A MUST. Those options are like gold to retrofit or next to impossible without selling a kidney. The only thing I will like on the facelift is the wireless android/carplay but a $100 toggle will solve that. Go with the 2023 then use the extra money to buy the extended warranty and a set of snow tires if you will keep the vehicle for +7 years.

Wait.....does it have the 21" AMG wheels? If yes.....no question get the 2023 as getting that 21" wheels + tires will net you +$8k for the set afterwards.

The dongle you use is Carlinkit 4.0 (CP2A)? I saw they released Carlinkit 5.0 (2air) and it supports Carplay and Android Auto natively. I guess it will show fullscreen cuz it does not have to convert between Android Auto and CarPlay protocols.

I use this product for Android Auto and paid $55 after coupon back in April:
WQQBFF Wireless Android Auto Car Adapter,Android Phones Converts Wired Android Auto to Wireless - Direct Plug-in Type-c Adapter https://a.co/d/fIwQZkS

They have a Carplay version. It seems it does not need to negotiate platforms as well because it's dedicated to one platform and not both. I highly doubt that the product you linked above would provide fullscreen because it's programmed into our version of NTG but I'd love to be proven wrong since fullscreen would be ideal.
