As an option, the Tire Rack's price is $1,247.96 with free shipping. With installation will end up close to the same.

Including 2-year road hazard coverage in the price. It has come in handy for my many times.

When you have a road hazard problem with tires purchased from Tire Rack, where do you go? Are you welcomed there?

Could you give me the executive summary please? I’m not beating the drum for Discount Tire but they do have 1000 locations across 35 states.

Tire rack will ship their tires to discount tire for installation. You can also ask discount tire to price match tire rack. I've done both of these in past. Sometimes discount doesn't have a tire in stock, so I'll just order from tire rack and have Discount install it. I don't ever buy the road hazard stuff. If I have a tire emergency and need a nail hole plugged up, I'll go to the closest most reasonably priced shop to patch it up.

My Dealer had the lowest prices on winter tires, beating Tire Rack by $150 out the door, and when I went in for installation there was another $150 coupon, so I got MO-1 spec tires $300 lower than others, including Simple Tire, which I prefer over TR. (They also carry Nokians, which is a favorite brand.}

Why do you like simple tire over TR? I've surfed their site but never bought anything from them.

Often better pricing, more brands I like, and customer reviews seem more insightful.

Tire Rack was bought by Discount Tire 12/31/21. I would assume that you'll be able to go to a Discount Tire for a road hazard claim.
Had a claim with Tire Rack, but that was before they got bought. It was handled by an insurance company with no issues.

if you read the info in the link I posted you are supposed to submit an online claim form first. Not sure how that works in an emergency.

You first file a claim for whatever event you had (from a punctured tire to a complete blowout). A ticket will be opened. You then go to a tire center of you choice and have whatever work needs to be done. If you need a new tire, simply purchase it again from Tire Rack. They will reimburse you via a check.

Yeah me too. Prices at the Dealer were lower than Tirerack, I was shocked to say the least. I was ready to order from Tirerack and then thought let me check
the dealership. My SA was also surprised.

I have also saved money by using my dealership for windshield glass, compared to the Insurance Company's provider, Safelite, who usually sticks in the cheapest glass available.
Actually, I save my Insurance Company's money, but I get the correct glass, correct calibration of cameras etc.

(Clarification, though. If there is a new model like the 167, insurance companies usually will automatically install Dealer Glass for the first two years, because the aftermarket glass makers need time to design and produce the new stuff.)

I have already had the windshield on our 2020 GLE replaced twice. In both cases the installation was done by a third-party, but I insisted on OEM glass. The installer got the glass from the dealer. My experience in general has been that the dealers themselves do not install windshields, but bring in a local contractor to do it under their roof. An OEM windshield is clearly verified by the Carl Benz signature etched into the lower right corner of the glass.

Most do as you described. My Dealer uses their body shop to install the glass, then the Shop calibrates the cameras and sensors.

For me, it was cheaper than Safelite, but I had to pay and submit for reimbursement. Easier to deal with comebacks if necessary.

Regarding the Benz signature, it's a decal that's ordered separately. You might have to remind them that it's part of the replacement. It's like three bucks.

Nothing wrong with having been acquired.
TireRack is still awesome and my absolute go-to unless I can get a better deal at the dealership which is not often the case.

We purchased the Primacy tires for ours (275 front, 315 rear) and have about 10k on them so far and love them.

The difference is almost $350 which is right around the price of an A-Service.
