Question ECO Mode

I like using the ECO mode because I feel that the downshifting is smoother, less jerky. I also like the glide mode when my foot is removed from the accelerator. I notice that the default setting is COMFORT mode and I must switch to the ECO mode every time I want to use it. In my wife’s GLC, if the car was last driven in the ECO Mode, a message pops up on the center screen asking me to tap screen to restore to ECO mode. This is convenient and prevents me from forgetting to change to ECO Mode. I have a 2021 GLE, does anyone know if there is a setting to change the default to ECO Mode, or anything else that I can do other than physically change it from Comfort to Eco? Not that it’s a big deal, I was just wondering since the GLC has that pop up message. Thanks

No, but my GLE provides the same pop up message on the center screen like in your wife's GLC. There is menu setting (buried somewhere) that turns on the message/reminder for the last mode driven, you don't have it toggled "ON" on your GLE.

I feel the same. I like driving in Eco mode because shifts, both down and up are smoother, but you still get full power when you nail it. Select "Request at Start" in the Dynamic Select menu. Then select the mode you want for Drive, transmission, suspension, etc. Once done, your selections will now activate on start.
Here's a link

Why do I not have Eco mode, only comfort?

AMG thing, you can get "eco" mode by setting your individual mode to be reduced, this will allow for coasting or the sail mode to activate.

I sure wish we had two I buttons, like the X5. My current I button (AMG) is in use for the "Certainly Not Eco" mode.

Eco mode on an AMG is blasphemy! . They have added additional settings to the AMG Drive Unit programmable left buttons in newer model/model years. They've added things like AMG DYNAMICS and the Drive setting, so in those newer models you can select Reduced via those buttons. In the very latest models you can now even add additional settings that are not related to drive modes, such as the cameras and other things, so they can be conveniently activated from the steering wheel in the age of physical buttons disappearing from the interiors.

I will try thé reduced setting. My CLS53 had an eco setting. The SUV’s don’t but should. T hey are not real AMG’s. but a slightly higher performance 450 to compete with the SQ7 and the sport version of the X5 with the M package. I hope I anm not offending anyone with my remarks but they are factual.

Possibly related to CAFE standards and compliance.
