None of these has had Belt Driven. Always inline.

AMG is using belt-driven now in some of their models.

Yup. Only difference from what I recall was moving from engine to transmission which made it more efficient, reduced weight, and reduced parts.

I was going through info in other thread on this forum that mentioned it was belt driven. It did move from the engine to the transmission as per Mercedes press release. I’m not quite sure if engine mounted ISG was belt or not belt driven, happy to stand corrected.

Electric motor is not belt driven. See the video linked to view an animation and hear an explanation of how it works.

It’s never been belt driven on the GLE. In fact the engine is belt less with an electric water pump and electric AC, electric boost on the 53. There are pics on an old thread from a couple of years ago. The ISG appears to have been developed by Continental AG, Germany-well known for tires.

This article talks about it in depth before it came to market:

This tech trickled down from F1 cars, where it's called Energy Recovery System (ERS):

I had the exact same issue with my 2024. I purchased back in August and only drove the car two weeks. Has been in the shop ever since. I just got a call last week they’re doing a buyback.

Best wishes for your buyback experience.

5 model years and MB still hasn't found their way with 167.
