Tempting but I'd prefer to wait another year for the refresh models.

I assume you're talking about generation 168, those will probably be a MY2028 or 2029.

This model is like 5 years too late by the time it comes out. The design has been around since 2020, it would already be due for a full-cycle refresh by then. Who will buy this?

I thought the same as well. I’m sure there will be people placing orders as soon as they are available. This PHEV model, revisions and power increase should have been the actual 2024 facelift/refresh.

GLE AMG 53 PHEV will be available for ordering still this year in EU. That is why this car was alreadt presented. There is a delay of 1 year in US versions.

GLE 53's don't sell in volume anyway. It's a specialty car. I think that someone who is considering the 53 would be open to this car, especially if it's more powerful.

Correct, that would mean the PHEV would serve a niche subset of a subset market. They will sell tens of those!
I'd buy it today and replace my 450, would definitely be looking for something fresh and new 2 years from now.

Might be that the inline 6 will get replaced with the 4 pot E Performance. There must be an EPA gain to abandon the tried and true 6…personally I’d prefer the 6 because of the weight of the battery and electric motors of the E Performance models but I might change my mind after driving one. There’s just something wrong with a 2 liter making 400+ HP.

Obviously this would be the only GLE 53 model offered.
