Might Dump my 2023 GLE AMG53 for a 202 GLE580

Love the AMG53 however the rough ride and seat are not allowing me to sit in it more then an hour. I have a bad back. I've read extensively (should have before I bought) that many have had this problem. Dealer is offering me a new 2024 GLE580 with a decent discount but I'm taking a big hit on the trade...Since I can't get trade values anywhere I'm at a loss for what I should be getting on the trade. Another alternative is just a GLE450, It would be my 4th.

What about multicontour seats in the new vehicle?

Just to clarify, I assume everything includes GLE 53 with perhaps smaller wheels and getting rid of run-flats, the current GLE 53 has Ride Control equipped right?

Test drive a Cayenne S with air suspension and sport seats. If you like it, negotiate a trade with the Porsche dealer.

@bkushner , throwing out two options. I put two Purple brand (like the purple mattress) butt cushions in my GLE and S, greatly helps with back & butt pain for long drives. S-class seats are very comfortable but that extra layer of cushioning adds even more comfort.

On my S63, I enjoyed the suspension but when towing around my 1 (now 2 year old) and pregnant wife, they both didn't really enjoy it. I had BenzNinja set the comfort mode to be the same specs as the S550 which has greatly improved ride quality while preserving the ability to go back to AMG settings in sport mode. For our GLE580, surprisingly my wife complained the ride was too soft and floaty for her liking and I had BenzNinja lower it and set start in individual mode (in which suspension is set to sport for her). I can confirm that the 580's comfort suspension is quite soft and floaty but i'm not sure if that comfort along with 22 inch wheels will translate to back/butt comfort, the leather seats are just meh and standard at best as for comfort in my opinion.

I dont know where you are in NJ and if you have air-matic, ABC, etc. you can consult with BenzNinja to see what he can do. I'm in Brooklyn, NY and also spend a lot of time at my second home in PA (near Kalahari). I have all of the equipment needed to link up with BenzNinja if you are interested in borrowing it for some coding feel free to PM me.

SEAT is the main issue. So tires aren't going to fix that.

My main issue is the seat. I've owned 3 Different GLE 450's and the seats were great for me. All MBTEX. The rough ride is secondary and I could probably live with that. I inquired about getting a regular GLE450 seat in there and told it can't be done. Thanks.

Is it mostly longer rides that bother you? Have you tried the seat kinetics function?

Purple butt cushion, pricey but worth every penny.

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ECU dyno tune; EDOK TCU tune; BB intakes; sprintbooster
Before I would take the hit I would get a cushion of memory foam as mentioned or ask a car upholstery tech to see what they could do.

Not a very comfortable seat, indeed..especially if you are a big guy. In all car reviews they say the seat is great, but even a wooden chair is great when you have 70kg.
On longer trips I stopped wearing jeans and only wear sport stuff. Also, try and use the adjustment from the menu, the one where you give your height and it moves everything to the ideal position. In my case, I had to add 5cm to my height in the menu to get the perfect seating position.
Still...not a comfortable seat, for me the comfort seats from X5 are the best in this segment.
