Has Anyone Tried a USB C Hub

Has anyone tried using a USB Hub to add addition ports in their car? Would it work?

No, as far as I know it doesn't work. Hubs are not supported. If you plug it in you'll get an error message in MBUX from what I've seen stating that hub devices are not supported.

I would imagine its a power output thing. a hub would have to have it's own power source.

I have a dual-port fast charger that plugs into the 12V outlet. When I need to charge my phone fast it works well. Not sure if you can attach a hub to it, but maybe.

yeah, this is what I did. I had a 12 V that had three or four ports on it. But the new 24 or at least the one I have got rid of the 12 V socket in the front. Just have the two USB ports.

That's weird. My '24 450e has the 12V right next to the 2 USB ports in the front.

Hmm I wonder if it's because it's not the pinnacle trim (or some other package) given that the cup holders don't have the hot cool buttons?

If all you're trying to do is have additional charging ports, buy a USB-C power splitter.

If you have the wireless charger, then there's no 12V socket anymore. Not sure about the GLE, but I have a 12V socket below the glove compartment in my '19 C63S coupe. They relocated it with the addition of the wireless charger.

While it is possible to "split" power from a USB PD output, it isn't a common functionality. USB PD isn't simply a power source like the old 12v sockets. It negotiates with the device and cable connected to it on what voltage (5v, 9v, 12v, 15v, 20v) and amperage (<=3 A, <=5 A) to provide. It's entirely designed around the idea of one port/device. That said, it is possible to get a USB PD trigger that will negotiate a specific voltage with the PD host and then any device can be wired to that trigger to use the negotiated output.

What is the goal? More charge ports?
