With the engine running, select the function button (looks like a car) on the center console. The menu on the screen will have a lower option displayed.

You can engage the "lower" function while stopped with the engine running or in motion....provided you do not exceed 19 mph.
However, it seems you have to select "lower" each and every time you drive the car. At least on the 2024's, there doesn't appear to be a way to select it once and have it stay in "memory."

This button (9) brings up a lower option on my right screen. Engine must be running to activate it. It will continue to lower the car after the engine is shut down. The lowering pauses if the door is opened.

I just go to ,Sport mode. It achieves the same thing and there's less fuss.

I always use the lowering function for that, and I found that if I put the car in lowering mode while car is moving (close to destination, turn on lowering), and park only after the car is completely lowered, then most of the time it will stay at the lowered position when I come back to the car.
But if I lower the car after parked, or enter park while lowering, most of the time, the car will be at the normal height when I come back.
Wasn't sure the behavior for the sport/sport+ mode.

My Sport goes down one notch, and Sport+ doesn't drop further.

Going from memory...measured my 2021 GLE53 at about .5" or .6". Just used a tape so a rough number.
I might be confusing my earlier 450 but at highway speed in C mode one or both lowered about the same amount! The amount it lowered and at what speed are listed in the Owners Manual. For an approximate, try measuring the drop near the center of the vehicle.
