2024-5 Lexus GX comparison

I'll probably get slammed for even suggesting this but I cannot help keep admiring the new lexus gx, and comparing to my gle450. Anyone did a deep dive review yet versus the gle?

Well, videos exists so you are not the only one (although this video is only about design comparison, not the actual functionality of the vehicle):

That third comparison is the Lexus LX vs the GLS. Same platform as the GX, but a very different vehicle.

Sorry about that, I searched the GX but that video popped up, I didn't notice it said LX.

Prior to its launch I was actually on a waiting list for the GX (as well as the Land Cruiser). In my case it would have shared the garage with the GLE, not replaced it. It seems like a great vehicle for somebody who occasionally needs to drive on something other than asphalt and doesn't mind the terrible fuel economy. Ultimately I decided it wasn't for me. At some point - perhaps when I finally get fed up with all the unnecessary technology - a late model 200-Series Land Cruiser could find a home with me.

No big deal. In fact, it's not that different a comparison. Same architecture on both sides.

Thanks all for the videos The g-wag is definitely a class or two above the gx — imo not comparable in terms of engine size and luxury. Price-wise gx very similar to Gle….Really like the rugged chiseled look. For a long time I stayed away from the Lexus due to the large front grille which I called it the ‘gaping mouth’. This new gx does not have that look anymore. Too early to switch out for me but eager to do a test drive soon

Sounds good, interested in hearing your impressions, I thought the GX is still bigger than the GLE, I still think the GLE will have more luxury amenities but still want to hear your impressions, not only the journalist.

I'm anxious to see if they add air suspension at some point. From some of the reviews I've read, it sounds like it could use it.

2021 GLE 450
We have an older GX 460 (2013). Compared to the GLE, it rides like the truck it is. Both wife and I prefer the ride in the GLE. Not sure about the newer GX models, but the GLE also has considerably more backseat legroom than our GX, and also a tad more in the front. Cargo area seems about the same.

2021 AMG E63s Wagon
After ditching my 2021 AMG Wagon this past May for a 2024 Maverick 2.0T AWD will pickup a 2026 Lexus GX 550 Overtrail probably as my last ICE to join the generic Ford. Was looking at the Cayenne Coupe with its standard V8 and of course the $200K Range. At New Mexico Residence it finally got too annoying to drive 450-miles roundtrip to address warranty issues on the AMG with certified AMG Technicians. The closer El Paso Texas dealership uses VW mechanics from sister store to service Mercedes including the more complicated S, G, and all AMG variants...they couldn't even update MBUX Software properly. The low tech Mexican Built Maverick is great...you turn the key in my agricultural XL Spec and every thing works. The Lexus GX550 should be bulletproof and last a good 10-15 years with its Japanese Production Heritage (not made in Texas, Alabama, SC, or other Southeastern US Facility . When forced to switch to an EV will LEASE those batteries in the Future...

Toyota's "bulletproof" status is at risk with all the recalls they've had in recent years for engines and transmissions.

It's surprising because they've been so low-tech.

Now they're introducing tech, in a catch-up mode, and that doesn't seem to be going well for any of the Toyotas. Aka Lexus.
