Fitcamx dashcam for GLE

Anyone have experience with the Fitcamx dashcam? I’m sure there are better dashcams out there, but this one looks decent enough for my purposes. And the ease of installation looks to be A+. Curious to hear thoughts, experience with this brand.

This would be going in a ‘21 GLE53 SUV. Probably front only, but I’m gauging how challenging it would be to run the single wire to the rear.

TIA!

I have it front-only on my 2020 GLE 450 (before MB supported the built-in dashcam even if you have all the required hardware like the augmented reality camera). Works as advertised, can't really complain. I'm far from a dashcam enthusiast and I'm sure there are plenty of way better cameras out there, but this is "good enough" for me.

Popping off the OEM cover behind the rearview mirror is probably the hardest part of the installation. The replacement cover isn't a 100% exact color match (at least for my beige, maybe their grey and black options are closer), but it's close enough and you can't tell unless you compare closely with the original.

I have it on my ’21 GLE53, and it works as advertised. The installation was straightforward and took approximately 30 minutes. Videos and audio are good enough quality for me. I got mine in black and it matches perfectly and looks nice and stealth.

I am very sorry because my question is not directly related to Fitcamx (which looks great), but if there is an installed by factory windshield MB camera (I have it on my GLE 2023 V167), is it possible to use it as a dashcam? Or only aftermarket solution should be bought/installed?

(Note: There is no Mercedes Me or Digital Extras buying options available in our region)

I am on the same boat looking for the info on activating the dashcam option on my '25 GLE. After extensive research, reaching out the dealer and MB USA customer support, they all said something that I don't want to hear. My GLE doesn't have the factory installed option for the dashcam feature. Google Gemini summarized it the best as follows:
"MBUX Augmented Reality: Your vehicle must be equipped with the MBUX Augmented Reality for Navigation system (option code U19). The built-in dashcam uses the same forward-facing camera as this navigation feature."
This is different than the regular navigation feature which supposed to use VR to super imposed navigation on real time camera images. Folks have this option can charm it.
I wish the salesman had told me about it before purchasing this vehicle but too late now. With the inaudible turn signal blinker sound, cumbersome MBUX, no auto walk away door locking, it will soon be out of my garage when the newer X5 with 3rd row seat is available.

My car does have U19 option (augmented reality). But there is no dashcam options in MBUX or physical buttons or something else to control dashcam.

I read in Internet that dashcam option is U21, not U19, but the source wasn't very reliable.

So the question is still if it is possible to use original MB front camera installed by the factory

Could you please share photos, how does it look installed? Inside left and right parts (from driver and passenger sides) and one outside frontal photo? Another question I'd like to ask, does it have a blinking indicator while working? Isn't it annoying?

I went all in on the this setup and never got around to having it installed.

If you want it, I have a new 4k Fitcamx front and rear, with the optional hardwiring kit. All together it sells for $350 and I can take $100 off. Shoot me a dm.

I have one installed on my GLE63, it’s great. I’ve pulled out the micro SD card a few times to view footage and it’s super high resolution and looks good. The installation looks 100% factory and the fit and finish is very good. Highly recommended!

Here are a couple of pictures. There is indeed a light, but it's very faint and I had to double check after your message to confirm it's there. Basically, I don't notice it while driving. I'm sure you can always tape over it, unless there's some setting in the app to control it.

Thank you very much!

As far as I understand there is no application control to change the indicator blinking mode.

That light, SD card slot, power button/buttons (supposedly they should be), are they located at driver or passenger side?
