GLE 450 Coupe
New to Mercedes - Servicing Cost Questions

Long time BMW owner here and I am considering a new or very low mileage GLE450. What can I expect to pay for oil changes, brake fluid flushes? My local BMW dealer spoils me with $119 oil changes. Quite honestly, their other services are very competitively priced. Just curious what I might be in for. I'm in the north Chicago suburbs if that makes a difference. Thanks.

Friend Google suggests $300-$400 for service A and a bit more than twice that much for service B. Friend Google can explain what is included in the services.

That's probably a good ballpark estimate.

Most dealers will also do an "oil change only" for the BMW or Indy price. If that's all you want.

When I purchase a vehicle from a dealer I include a prepaid service package. The price is less than the sum of the individual services and is negotiable. Plus because it is prepaid I avoid cost increases in future years.

The service is purchased from MB so it can be performed at any dealership. It is tied to the vehicle and can be transferred on sale to the next owner.

Much more than it should be. Parts markups are approximately double and labor is like they're doing it tai-chi pace.

Here are the current ads from my local dealer for A and B services. I negotiate with them before committing to a price because we don't put many miles on our cars. Usually I can get some percentage off at the discretion of the service writer.

Thanks for actual numbers.
My dealer also offers 20% off coupons regularly, and will do an "oil and filter only" package if that's all you want.

I'm always watching the Work Order I'm signing to make sure they (any dealer or Indy) don't surprise me with additives. Or something.

edit: Yes I always read the work order. Partly to avoid surprises, but also to make sure they have described any issues correctly.

Buy any part from the dealership and buy the exact same part from rockauto. Do you think I'm stupid?

You should have seen the snake salesman's expression at the dealer when I told him I do my own maintenance. Once that warranty and prepaid maintenance is done, the dealership is done.

My mistake. Taken in context, I thought you were saying BMW dealerships' markup parts double the MB dealerships' mark up. (post #6 above)
I don't have a problem asking for discounts or price matching at the parts counter. That's part of getting the best value. I've never found Rock Auto to be the cheapest, at least for the things that I buy.

The MB facility needs to be paid for. If you don't want to pay the prices that is totally legitimate, but its like buying clothes at Nordstrom or Saks vs an outlet store, you're paying more for sure. I don't understand the attitude about it, its a business like anything else and they charge what people will pay.

I wish I had the time and desire to do my own maintenance lol. I have more money than time in this phase of my life but you do you.
