New - with Questions

Wife & I decided on GLE400. There were no local cars, in fact only several in the lower 48. All didn't meet our request on options. So we ordered on 18th of November with late Febuary delivery.
Question:
Seams they made more 350 on the first run, our three dealers have 15 between them. No one has had a 400 since November. Why the shortage on 400's?
Wanted to take a tour of the plant in Vance. Tours were stopped for January, wanted to see production before our car. Why? the only thing - change over for GLS?
All MB owners, is the four year "service plan worth it? We are coming from a Porsche, they had no "plan". And the first four years $900. for just basic service. Brake flush, ect. we're extra.
We are sitting on MSRP: read all about discounts. Won't pay sticker, wait or no wait, there has to be some room. This is not a question

Thanks, waiting for the call from the dealer....

I would think more sales volume on the 350 vs 400, hence a dealer would order more of the 350 as he knows he would have an easier time moving them. Regarding the service/maint plan, is this a purchase or lease? How long do you plan on keeping it? If leasing, might as well get it as the total cost gets the same residual as the car itself. In my case, I have a 30k mi lease, plan on turning it in before the 30k (another lease pull ahead hopefully) so I would only incur the 1st 2 services. 2pk is $850 but minus the residual, I only paid $366. For reference, on my previous ML, I did not get it and did almost all my own work. The 20k service was approx $400 in parts alone for the oil, oil filter, cabin air filter x2, engine air filter x2, wiper blades, etc. If yours is a purchase, best bet right now is to pay out of pocket for the 1st 10k svce. BEFORE checking in for the next svce at 20k, buy the 3pk pre-paid maint to cover your 20k, 30k, and 40k services. If you buy it at signing, you're paying the same and getting the 10k, 20k, and 30k services. The 20k and 40k are the big ticket items.

Is it really taking that long? I'm negotiating on price right now (emailing back and forth today and hopefully finishing tomorrow) on a 400 and some dealers are telling me late Feb to very early March.
What options did you order/want that is taking so long?

Mine was ordered on October 24th and came in yesterday. Can't the dealer go into an existing dealer stock order and change to your specs, just like my dealer did? That would speed up things.

That's what 2 of the 3 dealers I'm negotiating with said they would do. (Although one is telling me that it maybe longer because they only make so many with the driver assistance package that can be changed to fit my needs.) It's worth asking to see.

Ordered my GLE on Dec 8. Dealer is telling me delivery in April. Now, mine is a diesel but still...

Here is his explanation:

"Due to popularity and outrageous allocations"

W. Karen, we are on the same time line. Looks like you were a few days short of three months. We have a tour date of Feb. 2 at the factory. Maybe I can slip the Supervisor a buck to make my car that day. HaHa

Sounds like a good idea. At least your GLE will have Apple CarPlay. Mine was built on 1/7 and CarPlay was put in on 1/8.
