I had a salesman talk to me about a GLE that had the Illuminated Star but not the LED headlights. Why would that even be possible. It looks horrible with a bright white LED star in the middle of yellowish halogen headlights.
Agreed. That would look hideous! Just watch the two LED headlight videos at the link below. You'd never even consider halogen lights.

I got the Illuminated Star with LED headlight. I have to say even though some may think that's a little too much. but it is definitely a nice setup! worth considering.
Do you have a picture of your car with the illuminated star on? I love the way it looks I have wanted it on a car ever since they came out with it. It's one of the options I wish we had on our c300 but we didn't have time to wait for a custom order. I know you can add it later but with a lease you would be throwing that money away unless you purchased the car which we don't plan on doing so I made sure with the GLE we got it ordered with the star!

Thanks for posting! With the star do you have the ability to choose if you want it on or off or is it always on when your main headlights are on? The side steps are nice. I thought about getting them but prefer the "naked" look and I don't really need them. I am 6ft 4 and my wife is 5ft 10 so that explains that.......lol. If you are going to get them though get the lighted ones for sure! Good job!
Side question, how do you guys manage to attach a jpeg as a picture in the post, but not as a thumbnail, when I attach something it is all the time a thumbnail only and you have to click on it to see it.

Well I have mine installed as a factory option. therefore, it is attached to the ignition. it lights up when the car starts regardless of day or night. But during day time is less visible. I heard of some people installing it themselves, they were able to attach it to the DRL or other ways they want it to light up. Well She just want the illuminated side step because it looks good at night. so with the illuminated star, side step and LED head light, it does look pretty good at night.
The illuminated star looks nice. I considered it myself, but changed my mind for two reasons. One, you can't get the Distance Pilot DISTRONIC and Steering Pilot if you get the illuminated star. This feature uses that area for the sensor. For the GLE350, this would mean the entire Premium 3 Package. Second, I don't know if I want to "advertise" a luxury brand vehicle to everyone driving in front of me. Just Google "Bump and Rob" and you'll see what I mean. For those not familiar with this crime, here's how it works. A person driving in front of (or behind) you intentionally stops suddenly, causing you to hit them. You get out thinking it's a simple fender bender. Then, suddenly you have a gun in your face and that person is demanding your vehicle. I know you can't conceal the emblem during the daytime, but nighttime is when you're at the greatest risk.
I have it. It looks nice. Its one of those useless options that I wouldn't have gotten had I custom ordered. I got it just bc it was on the car I wanted on the lot. My previous GL had it and my GLS now has it. Its more obvious now bc the emblem on the GLS is a lot bigger than that of the GL.
So Cal, come to think of it my build order was delayed due to the grey titanium rims. Maybe they are scarce or doing away w them as to why the traditional Sport package came w the Night package dark rims. I prefer the gray rims over the black though and I like some chrome in the front opposed to the blacked out front. Im super happy w my build! Congrats! Cant wait to see your build.
Very nice GLE, are those the standard halogen lights you have on there and if they are, how are they at night, I've read some negative stories about them being insufficient for night driving
