Check Engine Light?
Our 2016 GLE350d has had its second check engine light come on. The first CEL came on in mid-January while driving and after taking it straight to the dealer, scan indicated it was a faulty O2 sensor so it was changed. I'll probably have to schedule another appointment to get it checked out. Car currently has approximately 2x,xxx kilometres.
Has anyone had a CEL come on? What was the problem?

I had a "check engine" light come on last week.
It does not come on anymore. However, my rpms seem to go up and which is annoying. I am sure it is a 02 sensor!! Same old, same old.....o2 sensor problems I had with the ML!
I will be seeing the dealer next week

FWIW, I bought a Ancel AD-310 OBDII scanner on Amazon and it works with my GLE just fine. Was able to read AND ERASE a P0455 fault code after the wife left the gas cap loose.
No more Check Engine Light. $35. Everyone should have one.
Actually, there is absolutely ZERO reason why this isn't built into the computer of these $60,000 automobiles... Oh yeah, that's right, they want you going to the dealer...

The CEL also comes on with the fuel cap isn't tight, so it's not just major problems. I had this happen in my last car and I remembered reading that in the manual. Tightened the cap and it instantly went off and never came back on.

The fuel cap not being tight and having the driver be notified with a CEL has always made me chuckle. There has to be a better way to notify the driver that the fuel cap isnt tightened all the way without adding panic to the driver.

Agreed. Why don't they just have a dedicated warning alert, either a light or audible alert. Wait, that would make too much sense.

You guys do not understand, the CEL light went on because of the computer saying that there is a emissions leak in the closed system. The computer does not know the direct cause. Therefore the CEL turned on. If there was a gas cap light because it is not on then you would see two IDIOT lights.

It is usually amusing to see people ask why a CEL came on though. On modern cars there are hundreds of faults that could turn it on. By the same token, if the faulting condition goes away, it will turn back off.
