Smart Key Memory Settings

I have been playing around with the smart key and of course we have two which came with the vehicle but my question is.. Can each smart key save separate car settings (seats, radio etc.) for each one? My wife uses one kry and I use the other and each time either of us is driving we have to readjust by hitting the memory button on the door to reset the seats etc. My Audi and her BMW save settings (including radio) per each key fob. Help??

Thanks Jeff. Well I guess it had to happen at some point. The first and only disappointing thing I have found out about this car, so far. Whenever I buy a vehicle I always set my expectations at a certain level, especially for certain things. This little feature missing I did not expect given my 2011 BMW X5 and my 2015 Audi smart keys are able to do this. Oh well. It's still a great car even with this irritating factor.

A gaggle of MB's
How do you like your SmartPhone remote start so far ? I guess you already had that on your BMW too ?

Is your GLE Nav easier to use than your 2011 BMW or your Audi Nav ?

Oh..another thing..... do a You Tube search on BMW and Audi "hacked" car thefts.. some call it "Gone in 30 seconds"... the security on the BMW and Audi keyless system is horrible... downright horrible... the MB keyless system is secure... the BMW and Audi are not... and I think you would prefer NOT to have your car stolen over your minor irritation over Key Fob personalized seat setting.

You're right - maybe you should have got a Cadillac instead - and yes - it's time to get your expectations on a higher plane if you can handle moving up in the world...

Keep the beat !

SmartKey Hibernation

If you're like me and only use "one" of your SmartKeys, here's how to put your spare SmartKey to sleep, thus conserving the battery. Page 72 of the manual.

Deactivating and activating SmartKey -

If you do not intend to use a SmartKey for an extended period of time, you can deactivate the KEYLESS-GO function of the SmartKey. The SmartKey will then use very little power, thereby conserving battery power. For the purposes of activation/deactivation, the vehicle must not be nearby.

To deactivate: press the "Lock" button on the SmartKey twice in rapid succession. The battery check lamp of the SmartKey flashes twice briefly and lights up once. KEYLESS-GO is now deactivated.

To activate: press any button on the SmartKey or Insert the SmartKey into the ignition lock. KEYLESS-GO and all of its associated features
are available again.

I agree. I really liked it on my BMWs. I wish my Mercedes had it

How does it know who's driving, if both keys are in the car? For us, we typically have both keys in the car at all times, mine and my wife's...

Probably, whichever key it detects to initiate startup.
