So is this the same programming using part A246 820 3800?

Yes, 2016+ models are equipped with multimedia box, but they are not programmed.
We do the programming to enable it.

I took the car to the dealership today and they said my 16 GLE400 won't work with that part number and hence I won't be able to retrofit. Is there any way to confirm again in case my service advisor got it wrong?

According to EPC, it is correct part number for GLE400.

Multimedia box can be DIY.
We only offer programming at our shop for local customers.

Do you still offer this service and for how much? I have a 2016 GLE 350. I do not have the correct part installed but can get it and install myself. Just need programming. I am local.
