Hello, new forum member here, so please bear with me. I'm posting this because I wish I knew 2 years ago what I know now. When I purchased my 2016 GLE 350 a couple years ago I didn't test drive the car at night. Had I, I probably wouldn't have purchased it. I've spent years and many hundred if not closer to a thousand dollars trying different lighting options--halogens, LED and HID--mostly from Amazon or Ebay. I've called dealers, corporate MB, and private smaller shops to no avail. I just didn't feel safe driving it at night due to the poor headlights. About 2 months ago, I came across a website called bulbfacts.com that reviewed headlights. This saved me from trading in my vehicle. The owner of the site responds quickly to inquiries and provides suggestions. I have no idea how this site sponsors itself, but it does have links to the stores.
I went with the DeAuto H7 HID conversion, which was $150, and I was able to use my existing light bracket. I'm not so handy, but willing to try, so it took about 20 minutes to install. There is a youtube video for installation that is a huge help. These lights have been awesome. I went with the 5500K option and it projects very well. DeAuto support has also been very good about answering questions, which I've tended to ask a lot.
If you have this issue, these make the vehicle drivable again at night. I'd be happy to share any information, photos, etc.
I just purchased a 2016 GLE350 after having a 2017 Acura MDX with LED headlights. The night driving is horrible and it might be the reason my wife doesn't like the new purchase and wishes to have her old car back.
Why cant a Halogen GLE 350, swap the housing out, then buy a LED H7 Conversion kit?
I also came across the MB wholesale parts online.com GLE Headlight parts ordering, If you scroll down halfway, you come across 4 - Headlamp assembly's. 2 are for LED GLE350 and 2 are for w/ACTIVE LED HEADLAMPS.
Could the LED Assembly work to get LED onversions in a correct housing?
Thank you for sharing your experience retrofitting your halogen lamps with HID. I would like to replace the halogens in my 2017 GLE. I was looking at LED but after reading how smooth the process was for you I might go the route you did.
I am concerned about heat build up in the headlight housing possibly warping plastics close to the lamp. Do you think this is a concern?
Are you satisfied with the improvement in lightning?

That's why our kit we assembled uses 35W bulbs. No heat related issues as it'll actually burn cooler than your OEM 50W halogens.
Thank you AZN. AZN, what is your opinion of LED lamps? From what I've read LEDs might be a better option as they have a longer life and can be brighter depending on how many lumens are used.

No on LEDs on forward projecting lights in housing not designed to capture LED surface mounted light spread. HIDs will perform better.
Just find a flat spot somewhere. Most just use double sided tape.
Got my conversion kit from AZN linked above and ready to install on my 2017 GLE 350.
Some Questions:
Do the bulbs just twist out to the left?
I guess a hole needs to be drilled in the low beam headlight housing cover correct?
How does the H7 adapter bracket fit on the bulb?
Just break off the lower piece of the bulb protective cover? I see no other way of getting it off?
Is there a good instruction video or PDF available?

one user went from ML 350 Bi-Xenon to GLE 350 LED headlamps (the thread is here somewhere, used a AMG GLE body kit) so anything is possible
