Is someone riding 275/45/20 on 9J rims?

It's time to change the summer tyres on my GLE and plan to go a bit wider from 265 to 275/45/20. What is bothering me is whether these tyres will be too wide for the 9J rims, on some websites they say that the minimum for 275 tyre is a 9.5 rim. If anyone having the experience replacing the tyres with wider could post a photo, I'd be grateful! Will the look too bulky and optically make the wheel look smaller?

Just saw your post and I am getting ready to try going to 275 on my gle400. Did you make the transition without issues?

Not yet, it is stil winter here and I'll need a new set of summer tyres for the warm season. Actually I'm concerned whether the 275 tyre will not stay too bulky out of the rim. If you get new set of tyres in the 275 size, I'd appreciate if you post a photo of them installed.

Actually 9" wide rim IS the correct (and most measured by tire manufacturers) width rim for 275/45-20 tires (range on most tires is 8.5-10.5). Check the TireRack's website for the best info for each tire available in NA.

I have this size tire on 9.5" wide wheel (no, not because it does not fit 9") with no tire bulging.

Bulging on 9" will depend on what kind of tire is selected: performance - no bulging, H speed rated touring - probably.

I am having them installed Friday. Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06. 275/45/20.

What is the offset of these rims? Are these from GL or not, as far as I know this design for the amg 63 that you have I guess is 9'' wide with ET 41, but not 9.5'' as yours.

Trust me, I know what I have on my car. The wheels are replica 20x9.5 et45 wheels of the OEM 21".

FIY, here are the OEM ML63 wheels, which are 21x10 et56 with 295/35-21:

Thanks!
Actually I wanted to understand if a 10'' rim with offset of ET46 will protrude too much out on my vehicle or not. 10'' wide, 21'' with ET46 is the size of the OEM rims for the GLE63. I was considering these rims but didn't dare to buy them, because the GLE63 has wider fender flares than the ordinary GLE-s.

GLE63s have 20mm "wheel arch add-ons". Since other GLEs do not have them, OEM GLE63 wheels&tires will be close to flush to slightly over upfront and protrude 8-10mm at the back.

Looks fine! Can you make a photo from the side, do their sidewall look too bulky compared to the 265/45 or it is similar? And do you find any difference in the ride quality?

So far I really like these tires and tread pattern. No issues with ride quality.

Ride quality is exceptional on these Pzeros A/S+ even in suspensions set in S+

(better than on prior Conti Extremes DWS, of course DWS 06 is a newer version).

has anyone pushing it to 285/45/20 on 9J rims? I am contemplating doing that (with Michelin PS4 SUV), hoping to have a fat lip that can protect the rims more from curbs?

can you also comment on the 9J rims for 285/45/20? I see online that 9 is in range, but not "standard" which is 9.5 I wonder if that would be an issue? also, i am not interested in going down to 285/40, as i want to kee a somewhat "fat" sidewall to protect the rim; this is not a sports car.

Definitely this size of tyres matches the car much more than the OEM ones.
