Front Windows don't roll all the way down

Just purchased a 2017 GLE 350. Don't want to go back to the dealership if I can help it (It wasn't a Mercedes dealership and I don't think they will know). The drivers side window rolls down about 85% of the way but not all the way. The passenger window rolls down about 95% of the way. Both rear windows roll down all the way. I've tried the window reset but can't find anything like this particular problem on the google machine! Any ideas please help. They should roll all the way down.

You could try re-synchronizing them, do it for each window you have problems with:
1. Close all doors
2. Have accessory mode on then CLOSE the windows
3. Once it stops release and then pull the switch up like you normally CLOSE the windows for 5 seconds, make sure to pull it beyond resistance (in other words if you have not noticed already if you slightly pull it and then you pull it harder there is a click, that is called beyond resistance.

I have tried that without success. Some of the videos I have watched say to push the button all the way down and some say to stop before it goes into auto down so not sure which one is correct at this point. I will try it again tonight when I get home. I'm wondering since they won't go all the way down if that is why it won't reset.

Sorry to hear that it did not work initially but to answer your question, the proper procedure is to make sure the windows are all the way up and then you need to pull it for 2-5 seconds (the key thing is to be pulling it beyond resistance), you could try pulling it for longer but it should not be necessary. This re-synchronizing procedure is usually used when the battery of the vehicle is disconnected or there is a sudden power loss but the windows are not fully up.

I think I found the reason why it didn't work for you at first attempt, the proper procedure would be to pull the switch so it closes not like how you first attempted pushing it down to open. Hopefully the 2nd attempt is successful : ) keep me posted!

Well it worked for the passenger side window but no change in the driver side window. Thank you for your help with that!

You're welcome. Hmmm if you got one side working that means the procedure is done right, perhaps try doing it again on the driver side window, hopefully third time's a charm? Electronics could be finicky at times.

I tried it again and I'm not getting anything beyond resistance so not sure if there is something with the switch. I will play with it some more when we get home from work. Of course the wife is driving it so it's not with me. It's just strange because everything works fine but the window stops about 3 inches from being completely down. Maybe next step is close all the windows and disconnect the battery and try a resynch again?

That is strange... I guess the only thing you could do is keep trying like you said. Keep me posted.

WIS uses the word “normalize”. Use the search function on this site and a WIS doc is likely posted for one model or another.

Since nothing is working and your car is nearing 6 years old, and the symptom described is electrical in nature, it’s time to replace the battery.

Doesn’t make sense that you solved the passenger side but not the driver’s side. Further reason to change the battery.
