GLE350 Noise
Hello all,
I have a 2018 GLE350 I purchase new. It currently has 83K miles on it. Over the past week or so, I have noticed a noise that becomes noticeable when approaching ~30MPH+. It's like a rhythmic 'd-d-d-d-d' noise. Not sure how else to explain it; it's not really that loud but I can notice it. I had new tires put on the car in 01/21 when the car had 57K miles on it. Any idea's what could be causing this? Wheel bearing?
Thanks!

Have you checked all four tires for a stone or other object stuck in the tire treads?
Does it happen at 60mph?
Does the noise change when steering to the left or to the right?
Does the noise change when the brake pedal is applied?
Does the noise change when the accelerator pedal is depressed, or released?
Does the noise change when driving over bumps? Does the noise appear on smooth roads?

Please provide more information.
Have you checked all four tires for a stone or other object stuck in the tire treads?
[link2377] I don't see anything.
Does it happen at 60mph?
[link2377] Yes.
Does the noise change when steering to the left or to the right?
[link2377] No.
Does the noise change when the brake pedal is applied?
[link2377] No.
Does the noise change when the accelerator pedal is depressed, or released?
[link2377] The frequency of the noise gets increased the faster the car goes.
Does the noise change when driving over bumps? Does the noise appear on smooth roads?
[link2377] Can hear it on smooth roads for sure.

If you can hear it at 30mph, and at 60mph, and it changes with vehicle speed, it is related to the running gear (drivetrain and wheels/tires).
You checked the tires - are you confident you did a thorough job to look for small stones in the tire treads?
Other possibilities:
- engine or transmission mounts
- propshaft flex coupling
- propshaft center bearing
- halfshafts
- wheel bearings --> but you said the noise doesn't change when steering left/right so this is probably low likelihood
- wheels
Do you have any reason to believe a wheel is damaged? From a pothole or a curb?
Does the steering wheel vibrate or shimmy?

Hello again,
I checked the tires again just now and there isn't anything in the tread. There car hasn't hit anything either (pothole/curb etc). I'll pay attention tomorrow for any steering wheel vibration. How would you recommend getting this addressed at the dealership? I am bringing it in next week for oil change etc...should I just explain the problem and let them have at it or try and focus it a bit more?
Thanks!

Sure, it's a good idea to have the dealer look into it. They will probably charge you a diagnostic fee. If you don't have the desire or ability to do a thorough diagnosis yourself, the dealer or indy shop are good options.

Would diagnostic fee etc apply if it’s under CPO ELW?

It depends what the ELW says. What does it say?
