This morning while taking a right turn on my GLE 350 , suddenly the steering just froze halfway thru the turn and I had to keep going in the oncoming lane. Thankfully there wasn’t any traffic. I had to them apply a lot of pressure and then steering became normal.
There was a safety recall to correct a connector that might not be sealed completely against moisture. The recall campaign was 2017050013. If you've not had that done, you should look into it. You can enter your VIN to see whether it applies to your vehicle at https://www.mbusa.com/en/recall.

Sounds like the typical power steering pump failure I've experienced myself in the past with other vehicles. If your GLE 350 has been in the shop since the recall previously mentioned was issued that it would have been flagged by a dealer and performed by now, but certainly look at all options.
The GLE has EPAS (electrically power assisted steering) - no hydraulic assist. What you experienced is not something you'd want to happen at high speeds or in heavy traffic so it would seem prudent to find the cause. As a starting point, I'd check for codes. Beyond that I can't offer any value-added input.
