GLE43 Transmission Filter and Fluid Change Procedure (725.0)
I'm getting ready to do a transmission filter and fluid change on my 2017 GLE43. I see varying opinions on draining the torque converter. I also see conflicting reports on how much fluid it should take. I ordered a kit from FCP Euro which includes the filter, fluid (10L) and bolts. I also ordered the special tool kit to drain and refill (I already have a Mityvac Fluid pump). Any words of wisdom from the group before I take on this task? I'm at 100K miles (dealer did the first change), and I hope to go for another 50k or so before I get a new one, so I'd like to take good care of it. Thanks in advance for your help!

Also you need to know if you have code A89 (Reduced-Friction) or not because there are different part numbers not sure if this applys to the 9 speed trans. I would look into it just to be safe when ordering parts different filters and trans fluid..

WIS instructions are likely on this site somewhere.
Drain the torque converter if it has a drain plug. Not all torque converters have drain plugs. The only way to know if yours has a drain plug is to visually inspect it.
Watch lots of YouTube videos on this, there are some out there. Senior Leigh on YouTube has good videos on the 722.9 for W212 E350. The 9G will be generally similar.
Excellent video here:
Also yes, mine is the 9g so I think it will be a bit easier of a job. Going to check out the video shortly. Luckily, this is preventative maintenance and I have the parts already so no big rush!

So I do have the 9G but due to that its 4Matic, you have to remove the braces on each side and the transmission brace in order to be able to remove the pan. So when removing all three braces, the transmission will drop and that is why you will have to use a hydraulic jack to support it. Its pretty simple. Just time consuming. The video there shows the GLC300 rwd and not 4matic. Setup underneath the GLE with 4matic is a little different.

About to tackle this on my 2017 GLE 43 and need any advice or encouragement you have.
Thanks!
I did not drain the torque converter. If you are replacing the pan, consider the amount of fluid that will be in the filter as well.
The drain/refill process is very easy. I do this about every 30,000 miles and do not change the pan or filter every time.

Refer to image for one man job, observe the bolt from blue arrow, and use a big flat screw driver at yellow arrow to move the teeth while looking for the bolt. If you have a helper to move the cam with 17mm socket while you observe the bolt at the blue arrow. The youtube link show you how to
