2018 Benz GLE 350
Towing with our 2018 GLE350

Hello from California, I'm a new member. We have a fairly new GLE,350. We already have purchased the trailer a 2023 Highland Ridge Open Range Lite Air 17BH.
The dry weight,@3,635lbs and @ 4,995lbs GVWR. Payload @ 1,360lbs, hitch @360lbs. I've checked around for someone to install a trailer brake controller, very few if any instead they recommend the CURT ( Echo Mobile Brake Controller), use of this is thru Bluetooth which you have to download @ Apple and or Play store for Android or iPhone. I have yet to program and pair it when we pick-up the trailer.
One nice feature about the Echo Mobile Brake Controller, is the portability it allows you for easy transfer from one vehicle to another. I'm hoping it won't have any issues.
I've checked on YouTube but no one has done a video on the Echo Mobile Brake Controller on GLE 350. Not even a video on GLE350 from entire process of hook up to actual towing, the use of a Weight Distribution Hitch with Anti sway.
My towing capacity on the vehicle @ 6,173lbs, with a tongue wt of 600lbs.
I also purchased a Weight Distribution Hitch with Anti sway #94-00-0800
(E2 Fastway Rnd Bar-8k). I'm having it installed.
Any updates will be posted when available, meanwhile any comments, and suggestions are welcome!

Welcome! Tow with confidence. The W166 platform is a solid towing machine. I towed a 3,500 lb boat hundreds of miles successfully.

Try browsing and posting in the W166 and X166 sections where you will find previous discussions, and can ask owners for their input.

Please post a photo of the GLE!

You don't need WD bars on Mercedes.
For brake controller - make sure you get inertia-activated one as the timed are pretty annoying.
I think android display is more of nuisance, than Practicity.

Check out https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...gle-350-a.html I started for a topic that has accumulated some good information from a number of people towing with their Mercedes Benz. I went with the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 favoring a direct connection with the vehicle using the plug-and-play connection. It certain emergency situations, it could prove important to have a way to quickly apply trailer only brakes with the manual lever. The pigtail adapter from etrailer.com made the switch from one vehicle to another easy- after remounting the support bracket.
